yep, the industry have found creating habits and less amazing and just mainly creating no quit moments is a great way to get alot of returning players while requiring less creativity. this is not only something exclusive to the gaming industry. Just something so simple as constant new contant just by scrolling down versus having pages was a huge boost to getting people to jsuit keep scrolling rather than stop and go do something else.![]()

Going to have to do a couple of things before I can get to today's backreading, but I'm hoping you all misbehaved nicely.

Hehe, thanks.
Yeah, I saw it. It's part of a whole conversation that I keep facepalming to, because it's linked to the "getting x hours out of a game" idea.
This idea that games are worth more, if you can spend more of your time in them.
There was an interesting rant somewhere by Josh Strife Hayes on why we value games less nowadays.
...the point that games used to have the "this is the end" moment, where you had done everything you could do, the game told you: "You've done everything, nice job" and the game ends.
That's it. No reason to play on. So you end that game and put it aside at the very apex of your enjoyment. You'll remember that game at its best, at its most fun.
Nowadays, games are turned into these endless repeatable time-wasters that you keep playing and playing and they get less and less fun. And when you finally put them aside, you do it 'cause you're sick of it. Sick of the gameplay, sick of the characters, sick of the game. So your memories of that game won't be nearly as good.
I agree with the underlying idea. Games aren't good just because they can make you waste a lot of time. I prefer a game giving you 10 hours of an amazing time, rather than 10 hours that are fun, 20 hours that are so-so and 30 hours that you just do because you want to get it done and end it.
From my point of view, the whole "let's make a game sandbox or open world and stretch out it as long as we can" is the completely wrong direction.
It seeks to make players busy, to occupy their time, to create a presence in their life.
It doesn't try to make it fun.
GTA VI's approach, as far as I'm concerned, is a continuation of the idea of "games as a service", something that's tied to your existence, becomes a habit, a daily pattern, not a fun hobby.
So what they're essentially arguing is that they should get to make more money for a game they just don't really know how to properly make an ending for.
Simple, I was collecting coins to buy VIP/P1 and waiting for the next sale. When the sale came I had more than enough to buy VIP2/P2. Back then there were only 2 VIP/ Prestige levels.But... Why would you get it in reverse?

I asked if they could reduce or remove the timeout for the Developer role, and they said they'd look into it.As a game developer you have timeout for reactions? Man...
If you buy Prestige1 that timeout is no more.
Tired...Morning Y'all!

Yeah, that's a good point. Instead of "earning" the players attention constantly by providing something great... they realized they can just draw attention and then remove the moments where you'd quit.yep, the industry have found creating habits and less amazing and just mainly creating no quit moments is a great way to get alot of returning players while requiring less creativity. this is not only something exclusive to the gaming industry. I think because reaching the end of a page was one of those quit moments whereas being able to just scroll and scroll keeps "rewarding" the person sticking around rather than having them to manually switch to next page. and this is something these giants have spen billions researching and are still trying to find more and effective ways to get us to never go away even if we dont really enjoy it but it makes time pass.
And as both you and josh you quoted hints at before the newer generations of parasites who care only about their money making formulas and similar not creativity or having art and amazing and memorable experiences given to people.

Have you seen the trailer, the only reason it'd sell is Star Wars and Kennedy has done her part in ruining that franchise.I have Outlaws counter picked on fantasy critic, so hoping it does bomb, but it will probably screw me
Just relax a little bit...Man, 5 hour drives suck, especially when construction traffic brings everything to a halt and your 5 hours slowly turns into 5.5 hours. Still feeling like shit from it.
Plus side, makes gas station pizza taste fucking amazing.
Do you mean Post-bit? I have nothing on my profile.More icons, more interesting looks on your profile.
Yeah, outlaws is probably DOA already. Even with the shows going to shit, there isn't gonna be enough hype to overcome the shitty trailer and general bad vibes around the franchise.Have you seen the trailer, the only reason it'd sell is Star Wars and Kennedy has done her part in ruining that franchise.

I prefer salty foods than sweety ones, but fro drinks I admit I like a little ant...Not seen it, and don't really like sugar in my coffee, but I'll have a look
This recipe I mentioned you do in batch and store on the freezer. Whenever you want it, you scoop some and stir in some milk and that's done. Really easy.Instant coffee is a convenient and affordable option, especially when you're in a hurry or on the go. Moreover, cold-brewed ones taste smooth and refreshing.
Sure not all fault lies with companies but it definitely lies with the investors and ceo's your bobby kotick's, randy pritchford's, jeff bezos, elon musk and bill gates who took advantage of this without ethics or remorse to get profit.Yeah, that's a good point. Instead of "earning" the players attention constantly by providing something great... they realized they can just draw attention and then remove the moments where you'd quit.
And because you bought it, because you're playing it already, you just keep on going. Even if it's less fun, even if it's more like an obligation you adhere to out of habit, you still stick around.
The sad tragedy of it all is that it's not really the companies' fault. They just did whatever got them what they want the easiest and most reliable.
We players voted with our wallets. Every time they came up with a really bad idea, we said no - they said, "here is the same idea just a little less bad" - and we said alright, I'll buy that shit.
That's how all the bad got mainstream. Microtransactions, day-one DLC removed from the base game, battle passes, etc.
I realized that a few hours after getting M+. Getting to P1q should be easy with the current 45% discount at least.I asked if they could reduce or remove the timeout for the Developer role, and they said they'd look into it.
It's good to know that Prestige 1 removes it, though that isn't in the description. That's almost reason enough to buy P1.
