How do you feel about voiced VN?

The thing is, doing VA properly for games is tough, but doing VA work for a porn game where sexual content is everywhere is much much tougher because if you fake the sexual sounds made during lovemaking, for example, it's going to be something the player picks up on and it's going to ultimately ruin the immersion, it's not impossible to find someone who's genuinely good at that kind of VA but it's a much smaller percentage of people and not everyone is happy having their voice be something that random people whack one off to.

So in that respect, I generally turn down or disable VA work unless it's just static porn moans or some other stuff then I reduce it to where it can just be heard so it can add a little ambience to the scene.

A VN should never be voiced. VN stands for Visual Novel. You're supposed to consume it using your eyes and your imagination. Just because the Renpy engine has the ability to add these things doesn't mean they're needed. See so many comments on older games about how "it was good but sucked coz no music or voices".

A) judge things on the time in which they were made. And B) see above argument.

You're meant to read the words. To allow your mind to take the story being told to you and the pictures presented with it and create the magic in your mind. No voice over will ever match the sheer breadth or depth your imagination can create.

don't really care for it most of the time.
usually i read faster than the voiceover so i just skip it to the next line

its tricky to get right, sometimes its great but theres too much potential for it to be jarring. if its available id alays give it a go tho

It is non-essential but if implemented it needs to be done properly

I mean yes, i do like it but of course when it's done right and i'm not only talking about the quality of the VA cause if it's good but i feel like the voice doesn't match up with the character it can sometimes ruin it a bit, i ike when you have the option to mute specific characters rather than all the voices

But when there's just moans like from stock sounds, yeah that's horrible the game it's better without

If we're talking about western vns, I have yet to stumble upon one that doesn't makes me cringe. Japanese vns on the other hand I like it. Idk if it's the quality, the fact that I don't understand 99% of it, or just that I've been playing them since the very beginning.

I am open to it! plus if it isnt to my liking i can simply just mute it! so i say let people go wild with it!

I tend to mute the voices as I do read quicker than what the voice can say the lines in game. Also sometimes the music in some games is annoying so mainly mute it so dont have to listen to it

I typically mute everything so it really feels like a waste of time to have voices in a VN

Its hit or miss for me but i usually mute it bc i read faster than the voice acting so the disconnect makes me mute it

I very rarely see voiced VNs to begin with, but I remeber Snow Daze (or was it Snoe Dazed?) had pretty good voice acting. Its not something I need though

I quite like them with voices, as long as it's synced up nicely with the animation or scene. (y)
