discussion why do so many have something against RPGM?

First, you'll have to decide if you believe me. I don't work for the URM mod creator. I don't, but I mention it often enough that I wouldn't be surprised if some of you begin to wonder...

For Ren'Py, all it takes is the URM mod, and bam, I can:
-Bypass Grind.
-Find "fake choices" (no variables set)
-Correct Dev mistakes (they assigned the wrong +/- points to Love Interest or worse ON/OFF to the relationship to the wrong Love Interest)
-Can change dialog so I NEVER have to again ask "Incest patch?"
-The Compatibility of the patch is at 98% (probably higher but I don't want to exaggerate) .

But, as far as I know, there is no universal mod for RPGM. If there is an universal one, I'll change my mind.
NOTE = I don't just dislike RPGM, but also Unity, and every other engine that doesn't have a cheat mod.

I DO play Love of Magic, which I think is Unity, but it has a built in Debug Mode (cough, cheat code, cough) that I can use.

If I had to pick 1 reason: Grind Bypass... easy with Ren'Py + URM. If they ever D/C URM and if the old versions weren't compatible with new Ren'Py... I'd seriously consider quitting Porn gaming. I dislike grind / bugs that much!

I only hate RPGM when they use for things that are not fucking RPGs, you have the possibility to make such a fucking fun mechanic yet you just don't and I hate it I hate it grrrrrrrrrrrrr

Its the story for me, if its a really bad story withg only a couple of sex scenes, whats the point? Id get more out of other games than that. there are ones the yhave really good mechanics that are fun to play, but it really does depend on the story if the porn isnt that good.

quite a few game i enjoy came from RPGM, the Sequel games, a lot of kagura games, MGQ paradox. to name a few i am curious to see why they get a lot of hate compared to other engines.

As someone who's played a *lot* of games over the last few years, RPG Maker games tend to more easily fall into the trap of 'shitty gameplay bullshit getting in the way'. Good RPGM games can be really great, but it seems easier to make a shitty RPGM game than it does to make a shitty Ren'Py game. I think as well it's more likely that you lose the vibe in an RPGM game because whereas with the VN engines you tend to always be looking at someone hot, as opposed to running around a generic poorly constructed building as a sprite.

Yeah this is a big thing. I would say that people who have bent RPGM into something more fitting for the genre of 'lewd games' seem to produce better content. Too many RPGM games are the stock fantasy or urban assets and every now and then they throw a nude up on the screen instead. Too many are ridiculously low effort they give the engine a bad name.

In general I find that I am "over" sandbox adult games. Which is basically every RPGM game, with the added downside of being extremely cumbersome to navigate.

I played Treasure of Nadia and I think that's about as good as an RPGM game can be, but I still can't muster up the will to play Genesis Order.

To be honest the problem is that an RPG most of the time is barebones for a +18 games, there are exceptions like TLS, RyenRyu, SuccubusConnect

But thats it

not really anything against it. just very tedious to navigate and usually very grindy. pain to load/save and limited in that aspect. renply is just better in those ways unless want to play a ARPG type game

Because RPGM adult games are 99% shit... xD way too much artificial "gameplay" that isn't really any meaningful to get to scenes... almost all rpgm adult games would work better just made in renpy

From my experience:
• Shitty controls that needs both hands (arrow keys to move and Z, X and such to interact).
• Too much walking around, and too slow and full of obstacles, making it very cumbersome.
• Nothing to justify it being in RPGM and not Ren'Py (While some do have RPG elements, others are just regular VN but with you having to walk everywhere).
