Ren'py, Twine (HTML) and even QSP. The Unity games just try to remake Renpy and they do it badly. RPGMaker games are hit and miss, but more hit than miss. Some of the earlier ones were good, but the open world part of RPGM did not add anything good to the game and as result they were better as Renpy game (ICSTOR games for example).

Mostly Renpy. I've played some RPGM but I spent most of the time looking for the right door to open

Definitely Ren'Py, blows everything else out of the water. Still don't understand how people can play RPGM games (imo).

Easily Ren'py, RPGM gets second place, the rest shares last place. Even shit ass games works decently with those engines, meanwhile on other engines it just isn't fun to play shit ass games to which devs put 0 effort in, mainly due to crappy UI, no skip-text function and gameplay itself being bad. The exception to other engines is, obviously, if devs are godly, makes a lot of effort in the game to the point that it just pleasant to play on non-liked engines. I remember that there was one game that had very, very limited save data function to the point that you couldn't save your data 2 MAJOR choices in row, which essentially breaks entire game.

Ren'py, for sure.
Remembering that I'm a lazy lurker who doesn't play games.
But oddly enough, I played some RGPM and liked it...

if i wanna play a game and wank ill play tomb raider
I'm almost afraid to ask, but I now also really need to know: Do you wank just during cutscenes, or do you have some special technique for playing Tomb Raider one-handed?

Definitely Ren'py. Because it supports fast forwarding of dialogues and does not slow down when playing on a weak computer. And you don’t need to spend a third of your gaming time on mindless running like in RGPM.

Renpy all the way. As others have said, games like rpg maker or unity engine can cause problems with slowdown, or silly extra steps.

I prefer games using Ren'Py for its ease of modification and fast scene/text skipping capabilities. Ren'Py also allows me to review the script files and to replace the executable files included with the game with the original SDK files, as I am suspicious about running code from unknown sources.

In the beginning I found rpg quite entertaining, but now I almost only play renpy games because of the easier handling and modability.

Renpy, Unity, games that use HTML (twine) effectively. Older RPGM versions where you can't use the mouse are really not great, same as wolfrpg. Newer ones aren't too bad, though, especially ones that have a "skip text" option. Having to use the keyboard constantly and spamming the "accept" button as I read a 1000 page long tome about ancient dragons or some shit is not really my jam.

I like renpy games the most just because they are the best for a VN I'm not a big sandbox guy, I'd rather keep the WASD to mt MMOs or FPS games

Renpy is definitely at the top of my list for favorite engine. RPGM can be fine as long as the dev doesn't get too complicated with the sandbox element. Unity can be hit or miss depending on how well the dev can code.

Yeah, Unity and Unreal require a level of game dev understanding that can make for some... interesting... games if the devs don't know what they're doing.

I prefer Renpy. It is nice having text customization and all the shortcut commands.

RPGM. karryns prison, ONEONE1, Kagura Games... just experiences that I haven't seen from other engines.... I've seen some unity games come close but there's always something that annoys me about them be it saving being complicated or not being able to skip text.

I played a lot of RPGM Games but i find myself drawn to Renpy just because of the modabilty also i prefer VN now because of it
