What do you wish was in avns more?

What I wish was in more VN's: Actual Consequences, and some lite scheming mechanics. Especially around games with Incest themes. It would be cool if you had to make specific path choices to keep things secret from other family, rather than just having linear paths. Being caught out should give you some choices on things, like running away or a more sinister path to keep the secret closed.

I also wish authors weren't afraid to time-skip after big events to make progression more believable. Rather than the old '9 day game' that has you falling in love and developing harem relationships with 8 women in a week.

What I wish was not in VN's. The standard 'wife died' or 'protagonist lost his memory' stories. So exhausting.
 
Games with dogs/horses, unfortunately, the animals tend to look like ass, and they usually have a story that matches the way they look, so as much as I'd like a game to scratch that itch, I've always been disappointed by the results.

Actually, let me throw in this disclaimer: 3D animals look like ass, I've seen some comics/art with very expressive animals in them, so it's mostly just what I've seen done in (I presume) Daz. Maybe someday I'll come across a game with hand-drawn or AI art and it'll have a good story to go with the good art.
 
Status Interface that shows the impact of your choice. Most of AVN are either black and white on the choice given or "hope you'll figure out what the consequence of the choice is". I'd love to see more AVN that gives a "meter" or "bar" for after each choice selected.
 
Netori, very few games with it. If a dev makes a good and consistent game with focus on this specific tag it would become as popular as Desert Stalker
 
I'm not saying it would be mandatory but it would be good to have an alternate route that has a harem and pregnancy.
 
I’d like to see the relationships with the LIs developed further. I’m not asking for a slow burn, but rather more buildup and a chance to get to know them better. Sometimes the sex scenes (especially when initiated by the LIs) feel so sudden that it breaks immersion. I understand that not every encounter needs a deep motive and that, as a dev, you have to meet a certain 'lewd quota,' but still…

I'd like it if more AVNS would include actual gameplay. I know that they're "Visual Novels" so gameplay isn't really expected but I still like it when they have more than just the occasional dialogue choice (something like Phoenix Wright). I also don't like it where in order to get with the girl you want you have to choose only the dialogue options that get you that route, especially if the choices are vague and you basically need a guide for it.
 
I wish there were more interesting storie and well written characters. More varied LI design would be nice to, but still the story and characters are more important to me
 
I would like more actual romance.

Especially between one sister and one brother for example. Or between two sisters.
 
i really like music and sound effects i feel like it adds a lot and games without them feel very empty to me.
 
More endings to games. When the MC gets the girl/girls, and there's nothing really worth continuing the game for (not all games are like that but alot of slow burns are, with everything else after getting the girl feeling like filler.)
A prime example to me was Fake father. when the real father dies, at least for the 2 updates after it happened, it just felt like the game lost its meaning.
Better MCs, I don't know why people have to make them have so little personality, even though the best games have good MCs.
