What Do You Think About Slow Burns?

It has to be done right. For me, there is a fine line where it becomes too slow. Also, side content is nice to keep things interesting but yet not take away from the main slow-burn content.

As someone who has inexplicably fallen in love of CeLaVie Group games such as My New Roomate, My First Love, and the ongoing My Early Life, I've really found a love for slow burns that really take their time with very incremental corruption/seduction. Now those particular games are by no means perfect, I could go on and on about certain frustrations or peculiarities I find with them all, but I've played every single one that the devs have made and I'm always excited for a new update. I believe its due to the way they really nail having you pushing the girls' boundaries over and over again until it eventually becomes normalized, and then you start working on the next boundary.

My Early Life, for example, has just started getting into the real good stuff and despite it taken several months to get there, and I've found that the pay offs are incredibly satisfying. Being able to look back at the early game and seeing just how little you could do with the girls how rocky your relationships were and comparing it to where you are now is weirdly fulfilling and I'm not sure I can really compare it to any other games I've played before.

So, what do you generally think of slow burn games? How slow is too slow? Is the pay-off usually worth the amount of time put into getting there? Is there an issue of a game starting to lose its magic once the good stuff finally gets going?
yea, models are good, dev makes constant month updates, game graphics up to date since it has a ~1 year cycle, plot is nice. and that all in comparsion with someone who will possibly will abandon, who make "slow" burn almost infinite, but will make instant burn at some point or at the end (where game actually ends after that)
its like old but gold 'Big Brother' with new girls once a year:whistle:

As long as it's functional for the story and maybe with some lil eye candy along the way, I'm up for it (y)

Slow burns are great, but there has to be a burn. I don't want to read three updates of "It'll get good soon, I promise"

Slow burn can be nice but when you finish you tend to become melancolic

I don’t mind it if the story building up nicely at the end

As most things, I like them if done well. More often than not you can find games that are slow but they're not burning at all, it's just pure stalling. But there's a few that do it right and it's very satisfying.

People don't value things given to them for free.. but they also don't want to sit around waiting forever.

It depends on the dev some are good at doing some are not.

Slow burns are great but you have to give some crumbs and hints of the true rewards along the way

Most of my favorites are slow burnes. Firstly, they tend to be more realistic. The other side of the spectrum, where every girl who meet the MC wants to be his lover on that minute, really not my cup of tea.

Sometimes the final goal not that important, then the way to the goal, the small steps, the seduction, the desire, the doubt.

And yes, sometimes the magic lost in the final. Because in every new scene you need something new, something more, and well, after the MC and his LI do the final deed, you either final the game, or try to upper yourself over and over, with anal, special settings, new partners and so on, but it could kill the all the loving mood, that was set up all along.

I'm a huge fan of this kind of game/VN. It allows for a more thorough development of both plot and character depth. Among my favorite projects - Summer's Gone, Amnesia - are exactly such VNs.

IMO too slow is when the game gets abandoned before it gets any sex scenes. Otherwise i like slow burn but i wont play the game unless there is something to burn towards. Cause then it is just teasing.

Assuming the progress is not too slow or grindy, I love it when the story is marinated well, I could have some attachment to the plot and characters, instead of just having sex out of nowhere.

Slow burns when written and made by a dev who can write a good story, make decent animations, a large amount of content there are just about the greatest games on any site. The problem is the rarity of not just them being able to do all three or even just 2 decently but a large amount of time the only thing provided is decent animation while slacking on everything else and decent animations at this point aren't really a rarity.

its good if theres proper, understandable buildup and doesnt take too long. 'Dating my Daughter' for example took way to long for them to fuck, despite her blowing him 3x a day.
