Usually I'll do slow burn games when I don't feel like playing normal non-porn games and then switch back to more eroge type games when I'm ready for porn until the slow burn game gets to the porn. The game had better be entertaining if it wants me to go through its slow burn though.

Summer's Gone is quite a slow burn; but it's one of the best (which can be debated), but I don't personally mind them.

slow burns greatly benefit from being completed so you can actually feel the burn, and not just be uncomfortably warm for a while

Slow burn is nice getting all the build up and then getting the payoff, only time I don't like it is when the payoff is super fast.

Slow burns are acceptable to me, but I'm not fond of a single season taking 3-4+ years. Often times it feels like the people are delaying the game so they can milk their subscribers. I know that's not always the case, but it sure feels like it some times.

I really like the Headmaster. It's "slow" as you have to build up with the girls and the school board to do anything but you also feel the weight of the momentum build-up behind it. I think it's my ideal pace. I feel like most other games I play aren't necessarily slow as much as they're grindy. Slow can be good as long as slow immerses you or gives you something to bide your time.

when story and character are well made slow burn mechanic allow them to shine - if they are executed poorly whole idea of slow burn wont work and whole game end as a disappointing

But it should go with the story, if you skip endless grind in favor of the story and then reach the end but miss almost all content...well, thats also not really my thing ^^

Honestly depends if I trust the developer not to abandon. They are among the best and most memorable games if done well, but there's always the anxiety that I will see the abandoned tag sooner or later

When the dev needs to start making announcements every update about how a scene is not there yet, it's too slow.
When a game is on the second part and nothing has happened yet, it's too slow.
When a game is abandoned with no content to speak of after many updates, it's too slow.
When a game has already been out for years, it's too slow.
When a game is focusing on "the story" while at the same time blue-balling the main character at every corner because reasons, it's too slow.

A game comes to mind that has been out for years, is on the second part, the dev constantly says there are no sex scenes yet and the main character has been naked in bed with many of the love interests asking for sex and yet nothing has happened.
Maybe there are some now, but it would be impossible to know since I lost "interest in"&"track of" it long ago.

Most are just scams and use slow burns as a excuse. I do like corruption and romances but it depends on the writing quality and in some sense logical progression within the relationship. Though I said it before, the dick-sucking elongating bullshit must stop or any sexual progression that doesn't result in the definitief sex or relationship change. I have read many vn, and most are utterly trash. The dynamic between the characters needs to keep a steady flow, in the dialogue and inner thoughts of the mc. I rather want the character to be cockblocked in the moment, other than the bullshit, "I can't go futher than dicksucking" or "I can't yet" or "I'm not ready". Bitch you are in heat! Get plowed already!

But I understand the aspect or at least the idea that many vn try to postpone 'vaginal sex'. Like many well written books and novels the relationship gets real at the end. While trash writters use stereotypical miscommunication thropes or the Mario syndrome of kidnapped prinsess. They are either afraid or simply unskilled to develop a natural/realistic story about two characters are more. Setbacks can happen but make them not blatently stolen from other visual novels. At the end of the day, we want to play a 'porn game', and give us at least one girl to plow. Not seasons of nothing, no stupid excuses, and no patreon/subscibestar grinding when promises are unfullfilled.
