What Do You Think About Slow Burns?

I enjoy slow burns if they don't try to do too much. A lot of them try to pad with more and more side content without progressing the main story, which can lead to too many characters in general, which can then lead to a lot of those newly made characters not getting equal attention or a satisfying conclusion. If done well and kept within its scope, slow burn can produce the best stories.

so question bout CeLaVie's games, why are they rated so low?
And are they indirect "sinner" section games? such that it's obvious that ages are inflated. or are they actually patron-approved ( no loli)?
They are the most frustrating games I've ever loved. They are patreon-approved games, so nothing too wild. I haven't read any reviews, but from my own experience with each of them, there are a few things that come to mind.

The dialogue is not great, the characters are pretty one dimensional and don't really stand out from one another besides their appearances, and the gameplay is very repetitive and grindy. Most of them, especially the older games, have god-awful UI that makes running through each day annoying. I do know that they are pretty notorious for not giving you enough information to proceed sometimes and you may find yourself running through days doing everything you can think of to try an get an event to trigger to proceed. My Early Life has some mechanics that were added to make it more of a management game, such as paying the "sisters" to keep them happy or to get them to do things with you, but it becomes pretty absurd narratively-speaking when you're dishing out hundreds of dollars a day to the girls while they complain about not having any money. My Best Friends Daughter (Season One) ends with a reveal that feels like a huge middle finger to the player and is perhaps the most pointless and baffling twist I've ever seen.

Now, all that said, they somehow all manage to dig their hooks into me such that I put up with all that nonsense and have played each one through to completion. That's why I'd said that my love for them is "inexplicable". I do love the renders, the character models, and the slow corruption of the girls in each of the games like I described. They all eventually end up having tons of casual nudity and almost free-use style content which apparently does it for me. There is a lot to love about them if you can get past the tedium, messiness, inevitable bugs and seemingly dead ends. I wouldn't blame people at all for getting turned off to them though, I definitely get it.

Slow burn games are amazing when written well; However, inept writers often write large bodies of filler content with menial pay-off much later down the line and chalk it up as filler which I find pretentious and just simply inferior in quality over short linear games.

A good Girl, is like a bottle of good Wine.

It takes Time to Open it. And it takes Time to enjoy it. :)

As someone who has inexplicably fallen in love of CeLaVie Group games such as My New Roomate, My First Love, and the ongoing My Early Life, I've really found a love for slow burns that really take their time with very incremental corruption/seduction. Now those particular games are by no means perfect, I could go on and on about certain frustrations or peculiarities I find with them all, but I've played every single one that the devs have made and I'm always excited for a new update. I believe its due to the way they really nail having you pushing the girls' boundaries over and over again until it eventually becomes normalized, and then you start working on the next boundary.

My Early Life, for example, has just started getting into the real good stuff and despite it taken several months to get there, and I've found that the pay offs are incredibly satisfying. Being able to look back at the early game and seeing just how little you could do with the girls how rocky your relationships were and comparing it to where you are now is weirdly fulfilling and I'm not sure I can really compare it to any other games I've played before.

So, what do you generally think of slow burn games? How slow is too slow? Is the pay-off usually worth the amount of time put into getting there? Is there an issue of a game starting to lose its magic once the good stuff finally gets going?
the games you mentioned are not slowburn, but grindfest, and one that doesn't reward you at that. I don't like such games at all and consider them crap. Slowburn are games where you slowly build relationships with characters through story and choices, and I like that if there are passionate sex scenes afterwards :)

Slow burns are good if done well, and usually what most are looking for. After all if you want a quick burn you can just watch a video/movie. But for a slow burn to work you need good character building and a good gameplay loop. If either of these fail it usually results in a bad game or a mediocre one. Personally I prefer more complex gaming loops with more options while others may prefer being railroaded through the story.

Only slow burn I like is bad Bobby saga. It feels earned. But most of the time i don't care for it unless there's a lot of content at the end. Hate to grind for H that was mid

Depends on the story. If the story is interesting, it's great. There is an opportunity to develop characters and game background more deeply. Games in which sex starts in the first five minutes I immediately delete, I'm not interested, for teenagers with spermotoxicosis may be suitable, but not me.
But if the plot is weak, its slow development of the storyline will only make the player fall asleep. And such a project is also sent to the dump.

I like slowburns so I can stay focused on the story and the characters :)

I don't mind slow burns as they allow for a better story to be crafted. If the story is already not great then a slow burn kinda sucks and I'd rather jump straight to the action.

Slow burn with unnecessary grind and shallow quests is just a no no. But if the story is good and characters are lovable then it is another story.

I really love long form games with rich story telling and a bit of a longer wind up to the action. It gives better anticipation and better pay off for the scenes usually. Story's like Artemis is a really good example of it!

I like slow burn games. They usually have better stories and more developed characters. They do come with risks though, possibility of being abandoned before anything happens, or the dev milking the story.

Depends on how slow. I don't mind when the women take a long time to be corrupted, but I need crumbs to keep me interested such as accidental glimpses of them naked(walking in on them changing, sleeping nude, spying through keyholes, wardrobe mishaps etc), and / or stuff like massages

And I tend to lose interest in a game once the characters have sex for the first few times, unless it's spiced up with public sex etc, so I do like slow burns for that reason

As long as the story is engaging then I'm fine with a slow burn

If it has a good story, it's fine. That's usually not the case and it's just an excuse for being boring.
