As we've probably seen, there's surge of AI helped/made games, for sex scenes or the whole game, especially the new ones. We can see this in games like hos. Where the art is mostly or all AI. But do you think this ruins art, or does it not matter for you? I'm curious on your guys opinion on AI porn art.

Given what happened with Taffy Tales... I'd say developers should avoid relying so heavily on AI. It's fine for simple, monotonous, and tedious tasks, but if the first thing players notice about your game is the AI, then there's a problem. The massive amount of AI-slop games that have flooded—and continue to flood—the NSFW gaming scene doesn't help the situation, to be honest.

agree with the above post. AI is good IMO, however overuse can lead to severe quality degradation. i.e. I'd rather not see a woman with a dick coming out of her mouth tip first. :alien::ROFLMAO:

There are a lot of shitty AI games coming out nowadays. I'm not opposed in principal, but the dev would still need to put some work in to make it look good. Some people seem to treat generative AI as a magic 1-button solution, and it's not.

Agreed

I think we are in the 80s synthesizer era of AI. Before the synth started to be widely used, there were instruments which were played by musicians. They worked for years, sometimes decades to better their art and many became the greats we know today. Then, the machines came. People could (poorly) imitate a full orchestra if they took the time and had the money for a good synth setup, but most neither spent the money nor the time to put out anything more than what was referred to as "drums in a can". Fast forward to today. Synthetically produced music is the norm, autotune is used EVERYWHERE, and only occasionally will you find a real instrument being played (especially outside the USA). All that being said, AI can be good and one day will be good I am sure, but for now it is the equivalent of finding the Moby loop mixer on newgrounds. It has its moments, but most of it is pedantic slop being churned out. Quality over quantity is coming, it's just not here yet. I for one, can't wait until an AI game becomes like watching a movie, just without the real-life actors. choose your own adventure? hell yeah.

AI is a tool that is only as good as the person using it.

If someone dedicates time to it, and refines their work then it can be an extremely valuable and time saving tool for a dev to use.

If someone just throws together a random prompt with a prebuilt training model and slaps some grog script in its going to be terrible just like someone with zero experience with daz or renpy would have.

Imo the games that do it well (very few imo right now) it adds a ton and looks fantastic, and the ones that don't (the VAST majority) are instant ignores and more often then not die out after 3 updates.

I've seen a few games use AI for animation and i think its awesome. Its easy to tell who put effort into having AI assist rather than replace

AI image generation can work really well with games that have random NPC's. I've tried it out with Free Cities (pregmod) and Lab Rats 2 (reloaded), and it works pretty well, but it is a bit of a pain to set up right.

I don't mind AI images if they're done well (admittedly there's a lot of games where they aren't but I could say the same thing for Daz3D).

I do mind AI writing though, and I mind it more every time I I read another abysmal LLM attempt at witty banter.

I hate it because I know I'm never gonna click on a game that uses AI but there is so much of it that it gets in the way of finding true gems or when a title is interesting I click on it and it's just AI so I basically wasted my time

I guess it depends on how well it is implemented.
On some games it just looks like slop it does not fit or just looks out of place when the ai scene starts.
But i played some Games where i really liked the scenes because they looked polished and they just fit.
Also i think it´s crazy how photorealistic some of this stuff looks, i think it will be crazy what will be possible in a few years.

If it's used to speed up the workflow without significantly compromising the game's quality, that's fine. I just don't like it when the art is 100% AI-generated.

If the a.i is used to replace artist and voice actors then 100% its bad, however if it's used to enhance the technical aspect of improving games then that's fine. It's ultimately dependent on how it's implemented.

If it makes the game better and the updates faster and it isn't just pure laziness i approve of it

besides how generic AI characters are, and the moral issues with it stealing other people's artwork

it's just... boring? I'm playing a VN to experience either the art or the story, and if both are AI slop than what's the difference from it to just using an AI sexbot. I much rather seeing bad DAZ scenes but at least I know someone is taking time and care to the project

PS: that being said im not against AI to test stuff/help with programming/spell checking/etc, but for me how much you use it on the creative side corresponds to how little you actually want to put your time on the project

I am honestly fine with AI in games just because its probably not the easiest to find people who want to join up for this and I would rather have a better story than amazing animation or pics. There are so many games that just never get finished and I think AI could help in that aspect.

The thing most people don't understand about AI art is that it takes almost as much time to create good AI art as it takes to make good traditional art. Much like traditional art, it also takes a long time to learn how to make good AI art, but it requires an altered skill set. You also need some artistic skill to know what works. Much of the really good stuff you've seen had their final touches finished in Photoshop.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

Holy shit i cant breathe

If it takes almost as much time to create than a normal artist, dont fucking use it and get an actual artist. Fuck AI generated images
