As someone who loves teens (15 to 17) but doesn't like pre-teens, I support this decision!

Real Talk

*sigh*

Due to recent events within the AVN developer community, I'm pausing all work on my games. This may, or may not, be temporary. I'll be giving some serious thought over whether to continue OI and/or B2S. Maybe I'll stop all together, maybe I'll start a new... safer project. I'll try to keep you all updated on my decision. I'm not going to pause subscriptions yet, but if I don't do any work over the next month, I will put all payments on hold. I understand if you want to unsubscribe at any moment.

I'm not going to discuss specifics of what is going on. If you already know about it, I hope you can understand. If you don't, I'm sure you'll hear about it soon. Even though there are differences in the laws of different jurisdictions, this whole thing has a lot of devs freaked out, including myself.

I hope to have some good news for you soon, but... we'll see.

My Short-Term Decision​

So, it's been several days since news broke about an Australian AVN developer's arrest. I've had some time to think about how I should react to this and I've come to a short-term decision. I am going to put Our Island on an indefinite hold. I'm not deleting anything. I'm not going to pull what's already out there (as if I really could). I'm just putting it on the back burner for now.

What that means is, I'll be working 100% on Back 2 School. B2S is still planned to be ~5 releases. That might change now. I had been thinking about extending the game into the weekend (each release is a single day), and maybe this is a good reason to do that. I actually went back to work on B2S today and made several images before stopping to proofread/playtest the new release of Young Again (it's really good!). The issue with B2S is, it isn't written with Alpha releases in mind, because I was never intending to release Alphas. I'll take a look at it and see how best to break it up so Blackest Black and Lucky 13 can get that early content.

After B2S is finished, I'll revisit Our Island. I'll see how I feel about returning to the island. I had contemplated trying to "fix" the game, so it's a little safer. Aging the models younger than Kavya, removing content, etc., but none of that seemed like the right thing to do for the game.

Hopefully I'll feel better about working with those non-human, digital, ageless actors, but you never know when some politician or religious group is going to decide to make AVNs their next big thing. Even though none of this is currently illegal where I live, that can always change. The Supreme Court is a lot different today than the one which struck down the computer-generated image provision of the CPPA in 2002.

Anyway... I'm back to work.

I hope this means that _13_ has decided not to abandon or rework Our Island, what with the explicit mention that Cindy was 12 years old when she became pregnant!

For the record: This was NOT the option I chose as I played Our Island. As much as I love lolifucking content, I was horrified at the thought that this drunken, rapey, mistaken-identity...mistake was going to be this poor girl's first time

Yes, that's happening for me as well.

Huh, this is... if not a "first", then a close second instance of playing renpy vn's for me to get this particular issue.

All images up to that point in the game work fine, but when I get to the first "Home" scene with Bella in part 1, I get a black screen as the above folks. I've tried changing renderers at start but it made no difference.

All animations past that point which have those camera control buttons do the same thing.

Only if it's a single webm animation does it play (i.e. bj from Lucy, etc)

I do see those three buttons in upper right but clicking them does nothing.

No error, just no animation there, only a black screen.

And I've done a fresh reinstall with no added utilities, same result.

Do you have any ideas? Or have I done something stupid?

Unmuting the "Movie" sound channel fixes this issue. @ShaddyGames is looking at the code right now to see what I did wrong. Until a fix is made, unmute just the Movie channel and then lower the volume manually. In our testing it only happens when you use the "Mute All" button. Manually sliding the volume to zero doesn't blank the video.

p.s. I'd call this the "strangest" error in a renpy game that I have personally encountered.
There was no traceback file ofc, and the log.txt file was no help at all.

This game is great, but please whatever you do, don't make the mother content mandatory, I know some people like it, so that's fine if it's optional, but nothing turns me off more than mom content.
