what you do here, and why sites like this exist imo, essentially runs the same function as promoting the game. This is the ONLY forum I participate in and I have always respected the site. I've never criticized (and yet there's plenty to criticize). I have nothing against you, and I won't say anything bad about the site. Again, I'm not angry or anything like that. I just can't sit idly by while my work is stolen and shared without my consent.
piracy and leaks are inevitable, you'll never be rid of it. but without all of this, I'm 100% you would not have any hope of getting a fraction of the number of paying supporters you currently have.
fighting this can actually be detrimental.
it's because of all the discourse and the fact that your game leaks or is available here, that your game gains notoriety. the more of which it gains, the more likely you are to gain paying supporters.
it's literal interest.
it's your choice. leave if you want. but you'll cut a part of what makes people interested in your game, as very few devs discuss their games in the public as openly and often as you do.
think of it like youtube; ad revenue is shit for most content creators, as they can't get the viewership numbers, but they keep putting in the effort, because the more views, the more people are likely to join their patreon or whatever.
it's very comparable to your case. your game will get leaked, but that doesn't necessarily translate to less paying supporters.
but when you keep making the game and communicating with the people, you're all the more likely to gain more.
think of the flipside: you leaving has basically no impact on this site. it won't stop people from leaking your game. it may change a policy, but that again will not stop the game from getting leaked elsewhere. and then what?
the only loser in this could be you.
so think this through again, please.
