Number of game Characters

A happy medium. Only a few gets repetitive pretty quickly unless the game's writer is particularly skilled. Too many gets ridiculous (e.g. WVM).

Maybe someone someday will figure out the prefect number of girls in a harem. Until then I'm not complaining. But too many characters can derail a project. I'm a gotta catch em all ,for the most part. Who am i to complain when i love my dorm. And Grandmas house. Grandmas house is getting a little stuffed with characters though. I do love Harem Hotel.

5 main characters and a few side characters is enough. Anymore than that and the developer gets too overwhelmed and it takes forever to get new content for the characters that you actually like.

for the story to be coherent, at most a generous 10, and that's pushing it. if the story is out the window and im skipping all the dialogue anyway, it can have 100 characters for all i care.

I'll take as much as the writer can manage :devilish:

3-5 main LIs is the golden zone. Anything beyond that is side character territory.

it depend, one good story can be with two character, some "more action" games need more Charakters

I'm for reasonable minimalism. There is one game, I don't remember the exact name, something like Love & Sex Second Base, where the developers created a huge variety of female characters. Eventually (after about three hours of gameplay) I got completely disoriented in them and erased this game to hell.

I like games with lots of characters because I'm more likely to find a girl I like. There can be a main storyline involving all the characters and several subplots. If there are only a few characters, I might not like the game.

Generally, less is more. If there are a lot of characters it typically makes the story a bit of a mess (looking at you Grandma's House...) and if you're following multiple stories and there is a long time between updates it's easy to lose track of who is who.

I think there's an upper limit, and what that is depends on how much effort has to go into adding new scenes with each character.

I've played games where I've been interested in a handful of the characters (one or two being my favourites) and there were 40+ other characters, and yet the creator was still adding more characters each update, further guaranteeing I was (at best) going to see a new scene with a character I liked maybe once every few updates
