I would argue that most players are in some way or other immersing themselves into the game by viewing through the protagonists' eyes. I would consider immersion and player agenda an essential part of the difference between movie and game. And if I didn't see the game through the characters' eyes, it would be equivalent to not being invested in the setting at all and thus defeat the purpose of subjecting yourself to it. If I don't care, why bother playing?Well, it works for me, allowing me to enjoy a variety of tags and fetishes. I highly recommend that approach![]()
Good for you if you can just enjoy the show from a distance and feel indifferent about any possessive perceptions. But I wouldn't call that an approach as much as a trait. It's not something you simply decide on doing, but more the way you are or the way you look at things or enjoy in general. In my case this kind of detachment would only decrease my enjoyment of a game.
