NTR is not a dream, its a nightmare. Just say NO to NTR!

This is some one-dimensional thinking imo. I also wouldn't say manga or anime is strictly for a younger audience. If there's a popularized unique word in a different language that specifically describes something, I think it's fair to use in English considering we've been doing that for ages now.

For example, "karaoke" is a japanese term, "entrepreneur" is french, etc.
and not only that, Netorare has a specific meaning that isn't translated into a single english word.
The closest thing in English is Cuckoldry, but not even that is correct

Netorare is a genre of anime, manga, or video game focused on infidelity, typically on the internal distress caused by one member in a relationship cheating on the other.

I'll share if that's the point, I'm more likely to pick one or two girls I don't really like and pass them around and keep the others.

First off, avoidable NTR is still rendering time lost to it. That also means less content.
So I'd prefer the NTR crowd get their fix before they get to twitchy but let them have their games and we can have ours.
NTR is a VERY derisive fetish, up there with scat and necrophilia for a lot of us. Is that a bit weird, maybe but fetishes are just that.

I don't like NTR, with just one exception The Trap of Breath Concealed Magic. I guess if I can't stand the character then I'm okay with it

It may take up rendering time, but if it's a part of the story its a part of the story. That rendering time isnt wasted if the dev is completing their story. I dont go out of my way to see NTR content, but if its there oh well. I do have a question for all the NTR haters out there that want the devs to not "offer" it in their games. Do you read stories or novels outside these games? If yes, do you also rage at your favorite authors online about a love interest that you didnt want to be chosen taking the spotlight instead of the one you wanted? Or if no love interest, something similar that you disagree with the author on?

NTR never really bothered me but it seems to be a really big deal for other people

NTR is fine, as long as I, the player, don't feel too much like a cuck. It's just fine as long as there's no humiliation aspect to it.

As a lifelong poly person the concept of NTR never made much sense to me. That, and I don't speak Japanese ;)
Maybe we could get better clarity by using English terms...

cuck: MC is cucked by NPC, whether or not MC is present
bull: MC cucks NPC
rival: MC has to win the affections of an LI from a rival NPC
voyeur: MC watches other people have sex
3p: Player is shown sex scenes between NPCs without MC present, such as when a love interest remembers past adventures
cheater: MC cheats on a partner without their knowledge or consent
cheated: Partner cheats on MC
sharing: MC consensually shares a partner with a non-partner
shared: Partner consensually shares MC with other partner
triangle: Two or more of MCs' partners have sex with each other (there's probably a better term that could be used here)

Did I miss any?
I'm not sure if cuck and bull should be used as broadly as I have them here, since a lot of people think of cucking as specifically having the non-participant in the room watching, so maybe there's a better English term for when a love interest has a scene with a someone who is not the MC and not another love interest.

....but if it's a part of the story its a part of the story...
"Write a better story then..." is the best answer to that sentiment...

Optional NTR adds nothing to a story... otherwise it wouldn't be optional.
It's just there because the dev is a cuck.
If it's not optional then it's a full blown NTR game to begin with.

To answer your other question. Reading a book, or watching a movie is not the same as playing an AVN.
In most AVNs you have direct influence over the MC, you can name him. He becomes your avatar. If you want to go even deeper you can self insert, at least to a degree. You experience the world around him through his eyes. You have choices to make, which influence the story.

In a book or movie I'm a passive bystander. I can experience the story but I don't influence it or take part in it.

I also don't think that many people actually hate NTR games, they hate it when it's suddenly added later in the game without warning. Or when devs try to cater to both the harem and the NTR group.
If a games were being tagged correctly, something both LC and Cuck95 struggle with, Cuck95 often on purpose, then most of those problems wouldn't exist.

There are also many devs purposely trying to hide the fact they want to make a NTR game by trying to farm subs in other more successful genres, just to introduce NTR later.

I dont like when they say no ntr but it just skips the ntr scenes so you still get cucked off screen

I dont see why ntr should be an issue so long it is made avoidable by turning it off in menu preference but some would probably still hate on it and say it was unavoidable

Wrong. Unless you mean writing one and making it into a game yourself, then more power to you.

Again, wrong. Maybe in some cases, but in most cases its an option because people seem to get absolutely bent about it.

Not everyone plays the way you do. Some of use, like myself and a few others actually DON'T insert ourselves into the story. When I play these games, I play them like I'm reading a book, which is why the comparison. I assumed, as most of these Anti-NTR people seem to be, that you are a self inserter and that comment was meant to get people who insert themselves to see it from a different perspective. When I play these games, I play them like I'm reading a novel I'd read from a library if it had a few choices like a choose your own adventure. I follow the main characters life watching as a third party, see through the their eyes and experience the world around them through their eyes and I make choices to lead me through the story. So once again, wrong. It is in fact, to me and those who play the same way I do, EXACTLY like reading a book or watching a movie, only we have a little control over the story outcome.
I also don't think that many people actually hate NTR games, they hate it when it's suddenly added later in the game without warning. Or when devs try to cater to both the harem and the NTR group.

I dont disagree here that there are some devs who do this, but not all. It'd be a fallacy to conclude all devs who utulize NTR do this.

In the end though, as I said before. People need to get off their high horses and stop being so entitled. These games are a form of art, and the devs the artists. They don't owe any of us anything, and those who hate NTR should count themselves lucky so many devs have taken to adding optional NTR routes into their stories to accomodate you. Maybe thats a bit of a hot take though.
