How do you feel about collectibles in games?

Do you like collecting things in the game or just ignore it?

Personally, I didn't care at first, but when I played some games with secret/true endings that require you to find hundreds of things around the map, I started to despise them.
I mostly don't mind them - I just don't interact with the system. If they are required to access legitimate extra content (not just like an extra picture), then agreed. That's then a strong negative.

If a game makes me have to hunt in a hidden cave in the middle of the map for a single fucking shiny rock otherwise I get an unsatisfying not-true end then I hate it. If they are only there for flavour or for some upgrades or completionists then sure, go wild I aint gonna collect them all.

i like them however so many games put the collectibles in place befor they have a use.

I think collectibles are good. It keeps you interested in the game if you want to delve into finding them all

I don't mind it if the collectables aren't required and aren't a grind. I'm my view, if they lead to non-canon scenes that's a reward I'll often seek out. If it's simply for a trophy in the menu, forget it.

They are viewed extra favorably if the game is well written and get me to try alternate play throughs.

I love collectables. I like when they have some value to them, like very minor stat increases, rewards if you collect a set, etc. But really, if I can collect something and I can see a progression, I'm all for it.

Games like DK64 are great for this (for me, anyways), as a lot of the collectables lead to something being unlocked. Bobbleheads in Fallout are another good example.

I'll pick up the ones I find and be okay with them. But I won't usually go try to find all of them. I just don't have the time or drive for that.

I like it when there are extra scenes, but without affecting the main story. If it’s something mandatory to unlock content, then it becomes annoying.

i'm sort of a completionist. If i really like the game and intend to complete it i will collect everything like NLT games :sneaky:

Honestly, I don't care that much. I try to collect them all if I can, but if not, I just ignore it.

If they're hidden objects in the stages and they unlock things, that's fine. It's not fine when they're a damn pixel hidden in a stage full of objects that could be collectibles.

I don't care for collectibles. I only want to collect all the scenes/endings.

I like the idea of it but as soon as I feel it's a redundant boring chore I ignore it. In that case I either look for what unlocks online or cheat to get it

I don't go out of my way to collect them unless i want the reward or I'm really enjoying the game and want to 100% it.

It depends of whether said collectables have a value or use outside of getting an achievement. Ive played games (Assassins creed) where it was just a waste of time to collect collectables. If im going to invest time in collecting, there needs to be a pay-off.
