I like large harems. Who needs long winded stories, sure I don't mind the corrupting the good girl to join the harem or getting used to sharing with other females or whatever. Personally wasting an hour on backstory is just wear and tear on my lmb.

maybe when you start to loose count of how many it is. I would say not more than maybe 7-8 in a harem game. starts to get complicated when the game has a story driven nerative.

having a smaller number is better like 3 to 6 maybe so you can get more time to see their stories and to see development from them.
But if a creator can make a large harem work without making characters seem no existent them, then they can make it as big as they want

more than 10 and you are pushing it. just look at the games that do that, all character development is non existent, and the devs usually start to focus one a few characters only anyway. just look at 23 sisters, My New Family, WVM, My New Memories,( hasn't happen yet because of legal issues but the dev admit to adding most of the girls from The Beginning to the main story, and he already killed off one story line by not lewding Oliva which doesn't makes since since she is the same size as Lucy and Alice in MNF).

At base level the size of my harem is inversely proportional to the duration of my refractory period. Another variable at play, on top of that, is that I generally prefer getting to know the "haremees" individually and remember their names etc.

In my opinion the only limit in a harem must be how many characters can be well written.

I don't have a number, but when the new member is just there to be a new sex scene rather than adding something meaningful to the story, then you've probably gone too far.

I know it's fiction, but it's also a stretch when MC is having sex 5 times a day for a month straight and/or all the girls know about each other and are fine with it. The odds of MC finding 10 smokin' hot babes and they're all okay with basically being cucked while being able to keep them all "happy" is pushing the "suspension of reality" a bit too far.

I agree. More than 6 is hard to track, and sex scene cannot be done properly. Best number is 4 in my opinion at the same time, but 6 is the most.
