discussion How big of a harem is too big?

For me, 10 is the maximum size for a harem. Anything beyond that feels like there’s not enough time or focus to properly develop each character. A smaller harem allows for more meaningful interactions and better character development, whereas with a larger one, it can become difficult to give each character enough attention, making them feel more like background figures than fully fleshed-out individuals. It’s about quality over quantity for me. That being said, it’s true that whenever a new female character is introduced make you want to expand the harem but better to keep it smaller to really enjoy each character’s growth and story

I think that the ideal harem is 3 girls, because you should have enough time for them, but in fact the harem should be unlimited.

I just like being on a forum where these types of questions are asked and given serious consideration...
For me I don't personally need to remember hundreds of names as long as the staff treat them well.
Only a wealthy person can afford so many girls so I assume there would be support personnel.
There would also be a lot of turnover in the girls as they got too old to be of interest, but girls graduating
from the harem would be given a generous severance package for starting their new lives.

Games that go overboard with the harem (10+) become boring due to lack of character development, lack of focus on specific characters I like, or just fizzle out as there's just too much to do.

I think a harem of like seven is the most I'll enjoy. You get more than that and it starts getting messy or some people just start seeming like side character.

Six because I like even numbers but also because anything higher than that feels like padding, like the developer got sick of the existing characters but decided to add more characters instead of making a new game.
