Female or Male protagonist, what do you choose and why?

Always filter by male protag, if there's a female MC game worth playing I'll end up hearing about it in chat or a recommend thread.

It doesn't help that so many are platformers with rape-on-loss mechanics being the only content.

Female or Male protagonist, what do you choose and why?

For me the MC is almost always male. The usual male and female relationship. I can't get into the "head" of the MC if its female. It does bother me, when I see some previews of the game and it looks good, but the MC isn't male, so I skip it. Its not like I'm against it, some games will have you control a female for a little bit, and its not much of an "issue". This is not a "begging" to change anything, just something personal to me.
Yep, same here. I cant get into the headspace of a female protag.

Depends.
But I tend to follow the: "If I'm gonna stare at my character all day, might as well play female for dat azz."

If the game is more action oriented(giggity) then Male.

I used to have all my characters in videogames be male, then about 3-4 years ago I decided to try out a female MC, and now I usually go female. There's certain games where the female voice actor just does such a better job, like in Mass Effect and Cyberpunk 2077. Relationships are still almost always with women though.

I play both but that's mainly because there are sadly so few good female protagonist games. I prefer female mc as it's obviously more relatable but the vast majority are terribly written or just force/focus on corruption, which really isn't my 'cup of tea' so-to-speak.

I go with Male protagonists just cause it fits the tags I usually enjoy better.

Female protag games can work for me but it really needs something to grip me in, let that be the art or a unique story that could only work with a Female Mc.

Assuming we're talking about lewd games, I like and play both, but I prefer a female protagonist if it's done well, especially if there's a corruption angle. I very rarely relate to or get in the headspace of the male protagonists in most of these games anyway, so even though it breaks immersion for me, it's nice not having that pressure to do so. And it's just fun to control a woman's life and make her do naughty things.

I like both, but I prefer a male protagonist when I want immersion and a female one when I like to see the protagonist's corruption.

female protagonist is literally always the same game, it's about man abusing woman, of course I'm generalizing but this is mostly my experience, unless it's a game focused on like one character relationship

the trope of all men being complete assholes is lazy enough in male protagonist games and the MC being "not like other man".

I'll go for either, but it kind of depends on the game, and whether I have a choice. I generally tend to prefer to play as a submissive character, rather than a dominant one (whether male or female). My favorite lewd games have been ones where I (the main character) get "bullied" sexually (Rodinka's Lewd Adventure type of game). I don't really feel the need to necessarily try and relate to the main character, especially not for dominant males (they tend to be portrayed as non-relatable bastards).

I don't care. For me, it's not the gender of the protagonist that matters, it's the quality of the game.

I don't have anything against female pov games in principle, but I've never found one that's good quality and avoids the wrong kinks (ntr, rape, etc.)
