Female or Male protagonist, what do you choose and why?

For me the MC is almost always male. The usual male and female relationship. I can't get into the "head" of the MC if its female. It does bother me, when I see some previews of the game and it looks good, but the MC isn't male, so I skip it. Its not like I'm against it, some games will have you control a female for a little bit, and its not much of an "issue". This is not a "begging" to change anything, just something personal to me.

I play as both. For me it depends on the theme of the VN/Game. If it is a corruption/blackmail game I can go either way, although I typically prefer to be a Male Protagonist if the VN/Game is about corrupting/blackmailing a younger LI. If, however, there is a more mature female being corrupted that VN/Game is where I would prefer to be the Female Protagonist. I can't put a pin in why, although I suspect I relate better to the male if the corruption of the innocent is part of the theme. It boils down to a sense of control for me and honestly that is why I am nearly always at odds with the anti-NTR crowd (no hate, just don't agree ) . While I am not a fan of the cuckold scenarios, I do like the stronger male characters that are secure enough to share their LI with others knowing that they will always come back to the MC if they so desire. I am not trying to muddy the waters with an NTR discussion, just trying to emphasis the two points of the theme making a difference and the approach I prefer for sharing (definitely not cuckold). That leads me to my final point: Since it is typically about control for me, I don't care for female domination themes...even as a female protagonist. If I play that role in the VN/Game then I want her to be more of a sub and definitely not dominate over any male characters. Just my personal preferences.

So in summary: Depends on the theme, type of story-line and I prefer the control aspect of the characters (as a male controlling a female character and corrupting her as much as possible).

Same, maybe is because I like to immerse in the game, but if is FMC I can't. Neither if is multiple MC. The only way I can play FMC is if the art attracts me, but when that happens I usually play it with a full save.

Male protagonist is my prefered choice. Seing I am male myself and it is just easier to follow a mans mindset when playing the games.

For me it depends on the actual game but myself I prefer both It just depends what kind of game it is but usually if theres a choice between the 2 in the same game I choose female more often

I like playing games with the male MC. When playing the female it feels like you're just seeing the same female model. When playing the male MC it just feels like you get more body types/models of females characters.

I don't play games with a female protag, probably because I'm a man, but I simply can't get involved with the game if it's FMC.

It's kinda funny, the only ntr games I like are with female MC. I guess I tend to self insert when it comes to male MC's to get more into the game, but with female MC I simply can't and the disconnect allows me to enjoy it. Anyone else like that or am I just weird?

I rarely even bother with female protagonists. It's such an unfamiliar point of view and I'm not really into pursuing men or lesbian stuff.

It's always male protagonist for me, since I'm a guy. Mainly because I like to self insert myself when I play games.

The only way I'll do anything with a female protagonist is if I get to self insert....into her.

I find that female protagonist are often written better, but the games tends to be narrower in scope. Male protagonist often have more open games and more often then not harems. Mostly I go for good story and don't take the protagonist into account to often. They just need to look good and act in a consistent manner.

Only Male protagonist. It's best when it's in POV. For better immersion, of course. As a man, I can get girls. I can't get my head around the female character in the game.
