It really depends on the type of story or game! A female protagonist can bring a unique perspective, especially in games where personal growth, relationships, and emotional depth are key. On the other hand, a male protagonist can provide an engaging viewpoint in certain genres like action or adventure, where the narrative may explore themes of heroism or self-discovery.
Personally, I’d lean toward a female protagonist in story-driven games that focus on character development and relationships, as it can offer a fresh, nuanced perspective. However, both options can be compelling when the character is well-written and the story is engaging.
The few female protag games I've played are clearly written by men, it's just a harassment, rape, blackmail, slutty gross fest. I'm also more interested in female diversity in scenes rather than male diversity.
Prefer male generally but some female protagonist games can be fun even if they all tend to lean towards the same thing. Good old corruption, cheating, and all of that nonsense. It's fine in doses I guess but it can definitely get old.
