Typically prefer a male MC, but some of the devs do a good job with female MCs like Partedes (It's Not A World For Alyssa, The Big Step, and Molly's Life).

Exactly. Depends how the story is told and your examples are great. They are games with great stories from a female point of view.
There was a game where you can switch between male and female protagonist while playing but unfortunately forgot the name

My biggest preference is playing as a female protagonist and going on a journey of corrupting her. The best example that I can think of is Degrees of Lewdity and playing as the female protagonist and turning her into the town bicycle.

For me, it depends on whether the game has adult content.
For example in a Playstation game, even as a straight guy, I often choose to play as a female character, simply because it's nicer to watch a girl running around on missions, or swinging a golf club.
When it comes to AVNs, my default approach is self-insertion for playing as the MC, so 90% of the time, I'll pick games with a male MC, that don't have any unavoidable NTR/cuck/sharing content (it just gives me the 'ick').
If the story has a female MC and it's purely lesbian, or has options for only choosing female LIs, then that can work well for me. (Summer In The City is a nice example of that).
Generally though, I avoid most female MC AVNs, as I want to be interacting with girl characters, not guys.

In video games without sexual content I often will pick a female, because I like pretty girls and in games like Fallout 4, I would much rather look at a girls ass than a guys ass...
Now in a porn game I pick a male protagonist because I would rather see my character fuck a girl instead of my character sucking a dick.

I don't mind either, but usually any porn game that features a main girl getting fucked by a bunch of guys doesn't interest me.

I prefer a female protagonist is almost every story. They aren't always great, because sometimes you get the ones who were made ugly or manly on purpose. But in porn, as long as she looks good, is written well and we aren't plagued by the internal monologues of every guy who looks at her (which the majority of dumb male developers do in FMC games), then that's the best way to avoid being another cringe dudebro simulator.
