It depends on the type of game. Most of the time i pick male so i can self-insert.

As many above have said, I pick female protag for non-sexual games, and male protag if there's romance/sexual content.

That being said, I don't explicitly avoid a game where there's only a female protag option (even sexual), because I can self-insert into the other character, or watch as an external observer.

I wonder if trans characters will ever become gaming mainstream? Other than specific games to that content, I've never seen it as a standard choice.

I personally think it strongly depends upon the game itself. For example, games that involve themes like Brainwashing of some sort I am really into playing a female character. If I had to pick one however, then probably male characters though, due to what the person above me said regarding self-insertion of the characters.

I'd say I have a preference for male protags. They generally don't have a "lose to win" issue like female protags often do. If I am playing a game, I probably want to win the game, not beat it up to a certain point and purposely lose to get new content.

I've noticed that in games where you can choose your gender (concerns more than just games from this site) guys often choose female as their MC, and girls choose male. But does this apply to games with sexual content?

It would be interesting to collect statistics. Personally, i always choose a male in both type of games

My ex would only play fem protag games as she would imagine herself in the protag role, similar to what I do with male protag games

I agree, but I would also like to add my chances improve for picking a female if there's good customization options/mods for....proper appreciation of the arts.

i have played with both Male and Female protags. Male protags the usual but the female protag i like are which i can make choices to make her life interesting and see her in raunchy situations. games like The Siren, ReEducation program and New Life Project. Its like controlling female protag's life rather than playing as her if u know what i mean

Games without romance, i choose female. Games with romance i choose male.

That changes after i beat a game and i want to replay it. Like with cyberpunk, my first playthrough was male. After that i play female exclusively to look at a pretty woman. But of course, since I'm a guy, i can't self insert. I instead make a character with some backstory and character philosophy and skill set, etc.


But when it comes to adult games. Preferably male protagonist. Or futa protag IF it is futa on female. Reason being is because i have a dick so it's easier imagine the feeling during scenes even though the futa is a womon. Bonus points since it adds more female moans. Of course, i can't insert my self in the character anymore but good writing can compensate.

I tried female protagonist games thats lesbian content but didn't work. I avoid female protagonist games in general.

I'm tame I guess by internet standards? Don't have a specific fetish, only curious about some things but can't try. Plus just sexual content alone means nothing to me. I need to have an attachment to characters for it to mean anything for me. I have realized I'm more of a romantic then i thought.

Which honestly even though i know its not true, still makes me feel like the odd one when i see what others online and irl have done. Like i know now my mind matured faster then my peers. But I've always leaned towards the mental side of a relationship then the physical. Not saying I'm not interested in the physical. I just put the relationship itself first. Because why get physical if we are incompatible for a commitment. Plus, i put the physical side of a relationship in a very high pedestal and see it as something very special and intimate and something not to be taken lightly (and I'm speaking of this from a non religious way as well). Which is like the complete opposite of todays hookup culture and lack of commitment and lack of responsibility culture. Or is that just the internet...which still isn't good.

From this, I'm sure anyone that read this may think i put probably to much thought into things. No.

But i don't speak of these things much to others and i feel like responses here will be nicer. Because unfortunately a place called lewdcorner is a nicer place then other places.


But do wonder why my brain puts so much weight on the sexual physical part of a relationship. I understand why it puts the sexual stuff last in a relationship though.

Maybe because i haven't found anyone I love so my sexual wants aren't that strong? But i know my brain wants the non sexual parts of a relationship if my dreams are anything to go by.

Like this may sound sad but i legit had dreams where i found someone and we just cuddle in bed or the couch and i never felt such pure happy bliss before or ever since unless its in a dream like that.

This might be too much of a reply but honestly. I'm not gonna delete incase someone feels heard or something by this.
