discussion Does the same 3D models in multiple games ever bother you?

It doesn't really bother me but it's like watching a movie where you see the actor over the character. Like Annie from Eternum is in like 30 games but I always think of her when I see that model now

I wouldn't say they bother me. But it makes me feel like the creator comes off as lazy and uncreative.

Fuck yes I abborre it. I was Actually talking about this yesterday. It becomes so repetitive that you start to think that the game is too low budget and perhaps with poor quality/story. It really makes one judge a book by its cover. I already kinda hated those 2000s haircuts that most of the commonly used models use, and seeing them again and again really makes me annoys me

I'm understanding that the games don't have enough budget to be fully original, so repeating models are fine, it's a part of how it goes.

Usage across games doesn't bother me much. When a game uses the same model with slight variations (such as hair or eye color) for multiple characters in the same game, and they're not related (Mmmm, twins), that really destroys any immersion.

I not only get tired of the same character models but also the same environmental models. When I see a game with that fucking Land Rover or that Haven Park asset I check out. Automatically on my "Do Not Play" list. Also the nonstop recycling of devs using the same character models or similar looking ones is criminal. Can we also get some original stories. That's a little rare to come by also. I am a dev and I try to make truly original stuff. It's not hard. I blame the nonstop reusing of everything on pure laziness.

I'm personally ok with it most of the time but when they use models from a high quality game in a low quality one, it kinda bothers me a lil

the same male model (i.e the default HS2 ones that people often use for MC's) don't really bother me at all, and as for female characters, it can get a bit irritating at times, but more often than not I'll just notice and laugh about how I've seen it several times, its moreso just when EVERY model in a game feels like its being recycled for the 10th time that I actually get annoyed.

On the one hand there have been models in games i've found really hot, so it's kinda nice seeing them in other games with different story/personality. But this has also a drawback of when that character tries to be the voice of reason etc and all i can think is that's ironic coming from a character i've seen take multiple dicks at once

It's not so much that I'm bothered by it, but I do miss the body-diversity. And to be very clear with that, I don't mean that every other game should have everything from super-skinny to ultra-bbw. What i'm talking about are the various body-shapes, like peer-shaped, hourglass-shaped or rectangular etc.

It is just parallel universes! Srsly though, if story is good enough and fetish is up to you, it is just like a porn actress in different filmes. But of course, it is better when dev was able to tweak model enough to not make her instantly recognisable.
