Do you think the quality of story telling has dropped?

IMO I do think there is a decline in storytelling not in AVNs but across all forms of media. TV is impossible to watch nowadays, Movies are all derivative and lack creativity. Even new books are nothing like they used to be.

I think part of the cause of the problem is that nowadays it's so easy to publish/produce anything, that a lot more rubbish gets published. Back in the days as an artist you needed a studio and expensive recording time to create a new album, you needed a record label for the production and the distribution etc... Nowadays you record it at home and mix it yourself with your computer and you can easily distribute it through the internet. he same accounts for video, animations and or stories...
It's just more, the good ones are still there but are almost drowned in drat...

Yes, I agree, before there were few such games, but now almost half of all games

Since pretty much everyone now thinks they can make a living from it, yes, the quality of games has decreased overall.

Yeah, people trying to make cash-cows with minimal effort. Every Tom, Dick, and Harry has been trying to make erogames. Especially with the rise of AI-art, the barrier of entry is very low.

Considering older games and newer ones I don't think so.
Every age of hgames has its good ones and bad ones.
The problem resides in normal games overall and movies. Those yes the quality had a massive drop. Just look at the new Star Wars and Marvel movies, they are pure sludge.

Not really a decrease in quality just there's a really big increase on quantity so it makes it seem that there's too much trash.

I think there's still good stuff being put out there but you have to wade through a lot more junk now to find the gems. Also with art quality you can look at the sample images provided and get a pretty good sense on if you like the art before downloading it, while with writing you generally need to download it first to see if its for you which can lead to a lot of frustration around writing in particular.

90% of everything is shit. When the supply is bigger, that's a lot more shit, but a few more gems too.

There are way to many people downloading daz or other similar software, create 100 renders and then register a patreon without a plan at all. I fell like 80% of games start off without a plan on how the story will go and then it just develops into a never-ending cash grab.

No, I didn't notice that. The number of outright garbage projects compared to, say, 2017 has remained the same, good games have remained as rare as ever.

This site and its lesser competitor tries to put any game it can find, mainly amateur, on the site without any particular promotion or curation by reviews, so there's just naturally going to be a lot of rough without so many diamonds. I don't think it's gotten worse, there are just more games being made overall and they are more visible.

The problem exists in major movies and TV shows, we even had a "year of flopbusters" in 2023. There's also a lot of amateur slop like you say, but there is a growing problem in the professional writing world where older writers are getting forced out instead of being allowed to manage and mentor new ones, and new ones are getting told their shit doesn't stink because of their race or gender so they never improve.

Yeah, its gotten kinda weird out there. I think its because there's a wad of new folks making games for the first time and the quality we expect isn't there yet. Writers and animators get better with time. But I agree with @HTYYHRK there aren't any promotions or reviews, we mostly have to muddle through on our own to find the diamonds. Although I, admittedly, rarely review a game.
