discussion Do you take porn games seriously?

Everything in life is a means to an end.
The end goal of all life is happiness(And to die but fuck that noise)
Porn games give me a feeling of power conquering the galaxy, saving the world, enslaving the world, slaughtering gods doesnt give me.
So i enjoy them.
But they are often lacking in accauly gameplay.
It is hard to see them as games when most barely have more gameplay then an auto clicker.

I try to accept the games on their own terms, most games don't take themselves seriously so why should I? If a game is attempting to be serious then I will attempt to engage but that's a high stakes move that rarely works out.

I think if you play some of these games with a open mind you will find yourself pleasantly surprised about how well written and thoughtful these games can be.
For me the one that really resonates with me even to this day is the Black Souls series which covers the following theme's ( Fairy tales and how they can be perceived, Mental Health, Cause and Effect, Morals, relationships both good and bad and more that I'm not smart enough to notice.)

But then again these things are subjective to who ever read this. So who know if there is a correct opinion about this topic

There's a small subset of stories that I can get invested in. Most just fade away and become a jumble of nonsense in the back of my mind that will occasionally resurface in my memory as disjointed dismembered shadows of their former selves.

Other than that, I treat VN's as exactly that: a visual novel that's a time waster / distraction for a few hours.

Porn games are an art form just like novels and just like other games and just like movies and TV series. Whether an individual game is any good as art is a different question. Most are not, but some are, and often these are the ones I prefer.
Taking into account that the novels of the Marquis de Sade are undoubtedly art, there can be no doubt that Pale Carnations is art as well. If Jules Verne's novels are art, then so is Eternum. If The Office is art, then so is Solvalley School. If Gone with the Wind is art, then so is My Bully is my Lover.
It will take some time until this art form will be taken seriously and studied routinely in universities, but even the poorer examples are art just like Harlequin novels are.

Most of them no. There is occasionally a few that do get me very invested in the story though. They're usually those that have a very interesting fantasy worlds that would work really well for a story even if they weren't porn (Something like Desert Stalker). As for the non-fantasy ones, it would usually be the ones that really hit close to home for my experiences IRL or hit some kind of primal emotion (I won't name any examples for this category)

I take it in two ways, the first, a way to relieve stress like many of us do and the second, I think that many games are like a story and although many of them are not so good there are others that are and mix with NSFW content, and that many of them let you put yourself in the position of the protagonist in an excellent extra.
