Do you prefer a faceless protagonist in your games?

for me personally only if its a POV style game, if its a 3rdperson game then its off putting to me to see a silhouette or faceless protag. i tend to just roleplay the character in my mind instead of self insert unless the game is designed for that

For me it depends on the sex of the protagonist. If it is female, then yes. If male, nah.

I vote for faceless MC!

Only reason.. 1 less thing for dev to render and that way can full focus on the goodies!

I prefer a faceless protag. Let's face it, most of the men in DAZ and HC2 look ridiculous. I have yet see a MC in a HC2 game look like someone the LIs would actually want to be lewd with. DAZ is only slightly better, but not by much. I don't play as female Protags, so can't speak on that.

Definitely with a face. I don't even like porn videos where the actors have some kind of mask.
Of course, unless they are redheaded guys, then it's better without a face. A redheaded guy is the most miserable creature in the world. I know that for sure. I myself am redheaded.

ngl i HATE when they are faceless it's such a disconnect from the character and considering i don't self-insert the mc always feels like a blackslate or the authors self-insert but just blank enough so they can pretend they are the mc. overall i like a well written out mc with their own character drives

i prefer to see the face, i need a way to connect with the MC
also when they dont show the face or do the impossible to keep it hidden i think 2 things: 1) the MC face is a big revelation because of the story or 2) the dev is lazy

I don't care so much as long as he doesn't look like default white guy number 3 lol
Give him some character and make him a little cool at least or otherwise make him a dingus and let him work his way up to el duderino status

Without. Even if I don't self insert, I still have a preconceived notion of what the MC looks like and it never aligns with what the dev picks which screws with my head cannon for some reason.

it depends on the story line for me, for instance in blackheart hotel I prefer the MC to have a face, it adds to the context of the story, and reallly gives to the characters personality

I personally am fine with both. The only thing i dislike is when the MC looks absolutely horrendous or unlikable. But most MCs are looking like your average joe with no distinct features anyways.

With a faceless protagonist it is easier to feel immersed in the game, which automatically makes the experience better

Shaun The Sheep Movie Ok GIF

Faceless is always better than an ugly/weird looking one, it's not about self insert but it's just sometimes the MC's stupid face break the immersion.

Usually faceless protags or protags that I usually don't see the face can appeal more, however realistically so long as the face isnt either off-putting or a super big focus of a game I really find myself not caring the most.

It should be a law that all protagonists needs to be Bobby from bad Bobby saga in all games. Perfect for immersion also! 😄

i think both works depending on the theme of the story, sometimes having a face will add to the lore and backstory, and sometimes faceless works better when the game is themed as a first-person experience.
