Do you prefer a faceless protagonist in your games?

For me I prefer for the protag to be faceless(face is obscured or the game is in first person perspective the majority of the game) because I like to self-insert when playing. And seeing a face that doesn't resemble mine breaks the illusion.

I'm fine with a first person perspective, but I dislike it when games try too hard to do a fully faceless protagonist. They tend to wind up taking images from weird angles, obtrusively inserting stuff between the MC's face and the "camera", doing that stupid thing where his eyes are completely shadowed, etc. All of which is far more immersion-breaking for me than simply giving him a face that isn't mine.

Semi-related, one thing I really hate in first person games is when they represent kissing by having the love interest pucker their lips and stick their tongue out at the screen in a way that does not look like a kiss at all. Would much rather just see the MC kissing the girl from a side angle.

Think I prefer a face I don' tend to self insert, zing

Nah as long as its an unobtrusive face it doesn't break immersion. Something far out there would be distracting though.

I really liked Where the Heart Is. I actually had to start it, again, to remember whether or not the mc is shown. In contrast, WVM's black-rectangle is vaguely Lovecraftian.

Faceless or really generic character because i am used to that. There it is some games that have a horrible design to a character that you are going to see the whole time

I don't care. I never dive deep enough into the game world to associate myself with one character or another. Hence my complete indifference to the MC's gender, presence or absence of NTR, etc.

I prefer third person view with a MC that indeed has a face, like standard porn.

Same. As long as the face isn't distracting then it's fine.

Faceless all the way, other than in games where you can change your appearance enough to associate yourself with the character.

I self insert myself into MCs role but still if there is a mirror or a photo I like to see the face. It kinda bothers me when there is a scene where you should see the face of MC but it is somehow censored. I always stop playing for a bit and get lost in thoughts about what the face would look like - it should belong to MCs body and self inserting my face don't work :D

Faceless I always imagine Max Maxington (What I name my characters) as completely hollow and faceless. His only purpose is to fuck is his sisters and anything that moves.

I self-insert regardless, but having a face is good for the comical breaking of the fourth wall, otherwise faceless.

I used to think I didn't care, but the more I play the more I realize that I don't actually want to see another face in the game.

Faceless or just the default male character from any of the illusion character creators.
Exceptions for if the setting needs a bulkier more impressive male character which can then be its own thing.

There are two acceptable options to me. Either keep MC's face hidden, so we never get to see it at all, that's okay. Or show us his face, I don't really mind that either. But seeing a face with no features other than maybe a mouth, that's just utterly bizarre to me. That really breaks the illusion for me, and it will keep annoying for the entire game, even when I know it's coming.

I don't mind if they rarely show the MC's face, but when they NEVER show it, it makes quite a few scenes really janky (theres also a weird overlap between faceless, and bald MCs for some reason, at least from personal experience, and for the most part, I cannot stand bald MCs at all). ultimately a generic white/japanese protagonist with a nice regular brown or black haircut, and facial hair if above 25, none if below it is preferred, because it just ends up working better with camera angles for scenes, and is just more logically sound than if the in game universe somehow finds a way to hide it at every opportunity.

I think it depends on the game.
For a really well designed and thought out character, then by all means, tell their story.
If i'm just there to fuck everything that moves, leave the MC faceless so I can self insert.

I prefer scenes with different angles, and a faceless MC would seen some kind of alien

Honestly as long as the MC's face doesn't make me want to punch it and is done well I don't mind it at all. I also don't mind faceless MC's either though, really anything as long as the MC doesn't distract from the story as most male faces in DAZ etc are effing terrible.
