Do you prefer a faceless protagonist in your games?

I think it gets a little old after a while when all the renders have some convenient object blocking the view of the protag's face. I don't need to self-insert.

I don't mind a faceless protag, but if a dev can design a good protag, i'd say that would be better for the game.

Honestly as long as the MC's face doesn't make me want to punch it and is done well I don't mind it at all. I also don't mind faceless MC's either though, really anything as long as the MC doesn't distract from the story as most male faces in DAZ etc are effing terrible.
exactly. I don't want to be distracted by the MC.

sometimes hiding the face can be distracting too though.

I dont really care when he is not the limelight of the scenes. but i would prefer invisible mc aswell

doesn't really matter to me, as long as the protag isn't distractingly hideous tbh

For me it isn't important to see the face of protagonist, but a whole game with a faceless protagonist it would be strange
So if i have to choose i prefer with face, especially if it is a female protagonist

For me I prefer for the protag to be faceless(face is obscured or the game is in first person perspective the majority of the game) because I like to self-insert when playing. And seeing a face that doesn't resemble mine breaks the illusion.
The first person "POV" is generally fine for me, but given the choice of having the side angle of a protagonist kissing the LI or kissing the neck IMHO is far better than having the LI mouth agape trying to deep throat the camera lense. The game Radiant does an excellent job of illustrating those up close intimate moments.

yea that always looks very goofy

I prefer them being in first person, but I won't write a game off just because you see the main character fully and/or often.

I've personally never been able to understand the desire or need to have the MC be faceless through the whole novel. I see some comments here saying it breaks their immersion which I suppose I could see. Doesn't bother me either way though really whether he has a face in the novel or not so long as it isn't super bizarre.

In my opinion it depends on something foreign to me I'd how much I like the MC, and the content of the game. If its something foreign to me I'd rather a character do it, but if its something I can understand and decisions I can get behind let me self-insert

yea certain plots i feel like its better to view it is a story and not insert

If the protagonist is male, then might as well make it faceless. If they are female, then give me the face; I would like to beat off to her. I very much like the faceless characters that just don't have eyes; like the place where their eyes should be is a grey gradient*. (if that is the right word)

i dont prefer it but i dont mind either (on m protag).
there is definitely a case to be made for a good protag, altough most tend to be pretty boring.

Faceless, unless I have an option to customize my character

I certainly don't mind it. I don't like it when the MC looks a little more off putting at least. so at that point i would just like for them to be faceless lul

If the MC has a lot of personality, I enjoy them having a face and interacting with other characters in the story. Good examples of this are Twisted World or The Inn. For stuff like visual novels with just multiple choice options, having the MC faceless makes more sense since they're not the one actually doing the interacting, they're just a vehicle for your observation of the story.

If its a female protag or if the game/VN has darker paths i prefer to see a face as I am not a girl or into the darker paths. However if its a male protag or if the game is mostlly light path with corruption choices i prefer no face for immersion. 🙃
