depends on the game and author

for some games, the author always has a bunch of content, but others push updates with just one scene added

i try not to play too many mini updates

I used to be an every update fiend. Now a lot of content has to drop unless we are talking about BaDIK.

I usually let updates accumulate unless its something like Desert Stalker which has good amount of content per update on a slower release schedule

i always forget about updates till i see them. Then download them if i see them. Recently done that on a few games

It depends on the game. For games I like, I play every update.

Sadly...
Lately more and more developers have been pushing out these 1-2 month updates which barely have 3 sex scenes in it. 3 scenes is even being generous. Very little content in very little amount of time. Thus forcing some people (like me) to skip several updates ahead until enough content is accumulated to justify replaying it. Since yknow, it's still a porn game.

There are developers like Seath Black who do put out updates to games which are very long and full of content. Those types I tend to replay with every update.

It depends on my level of attachment to the game, and if I am currently playing through a different game actively. I don't jump around between AVNs, I generally play each one all the way through and try to see as much of the content that appeals to me as possible before moving on. Eventually I may circle back to a game I have finished if I really enjoyed it.

Refuse to start games before they reach like 30% made at least, and then wait months of accumulated updates to come back. With the correct games you could come back to it quick, but you shouldn't kill your enjoyment of it by opening it too often while in progress, specially if its one of those where you need to start from the beginning per patch, was ruining degrees of lewdity for myself that way.

Same as everyone, it depends on the game.

As an example, I occasionally play "Just one more chance". There’s a new update every few weeks, but I feel no need to download every update.

On the other hand, I’ve played every update of "A day at the Spa" shortly after it came out despite there being not a lot of new content.

I play each update and after it is complete I always go back to the beginning

Depends on how bored and impulsive I am when something I like comes out. Sometimes I fail to resist playing on an update that wont add much from the previous.

Yeah, I must echo the above. It does depend in large part on how I am feeling when I become aware of the update, and whether or not I've got something else to do at the time.

same here i try to play when i see there is a nice update. Lots of new content... Dont want to just download a game for 3 more screens or 30 secs of dialog. I also understand for most its a work of love so i dont cry whenever there hasnt been an update in a while i just wait until i see one pop up.

It depends on the game, if I like it I play every now and then or sometimes I wait for more content

A bit of both. Depends on the game and if I have other things tot ide me over or not.

i check every 2-3 months for updates for my favourite games, i don't care if there if is 1 release or 3, i just play it

If a game updates fast enough that I can still remember what happened before and with enough content to be enjoyable, then I can easily play every update (Dating my Daughter, Proud Father, Single Again, Corrupted Love, ...). If the updates are too small I'll wait for 2 or 3 before playing, unless that makes the time between sessions too long, then I might just leave it until it's finished or I get a itch for it. I played Innocent Witches 4 times already, starting from their demo, but their updates are small, too far apart, and too much redoing current content. I quit playing for a few years, but now that the existing content has been overhauled I started playing again, even though I know I will quit at the end because it will take many more years for it to finish 😔

It depends ... If there are only minor changes, I might skip a update.
If the Update is giving new content or fixing breaking bugs, then I play it.

But. If the updates come too fast to relaize the progress, I also might skip an update to enjoy and relize the last one

Definitely depends on the game, heavily story based VNs i play every update as it feels episodic but other games such as adventures or action games that only ad a level or new enemy types I let build up for a few months.
