discussion Do you play as yourself or role-play as someone else?

In the spirit of being more involved on the social side of things, I figured I'd make my first post. So I'm curious, when you are playing a game that allows you to make choices (good/bad, dominant/submissive), do you tend to pretend that the mc character is you, and makes decisions as you would? Or do you play as a character that is different from yourself, possibly even with a different name.

Personally, I tend to play as close to myself as possible, even going as far as playing out certain scenes just to see lewd content but then rolling back if it's not a decision I would personally make in real life. What do you guys do?

I roleplay as the character and also in third person watching. It's a 3D chess strat so you wouldn't understand you see.

If I need to make decisions in the game, I make them as I would myself.

I just use the default name but make decisions based on what I would do.

It really depends for me what kind of game I am playing. Sometimes I pick choices I would do if I was in the situation. Other times I simply try out different options to see what would happen. I often find it hard though to immerse myself in the games since most of them are pretty far from any reality that I know, so I try to act according to the character I am playing. If the main character is pretty fleshed out I tend to roleplay and if they arent I decide during the game what kind of character I want to be. Hard to explain since english really isnt my main language.

I've found that I tend to have a fairly consistent character across different games that isn't like to myself. After the first playthrough I usually just game out responses to see all the content, an option missing from the poll options.

I always play a differernt role.

I would never sneak out in the middle of the Night and run naked thru the Park ---- or Stuff like that

Really, depends if if there are multiple routes that require playing differently to see scenes I want. I am always playing in "3rd person" and while I'm usually interested in how the MC's story works out, I don't necessarily care if it works out in a way that I wouldn't want things to work out for me, if you catch my drift.

And, in a handful of games where I actually consider the story to be well-written and interesting on its own, I am happy when there are multiple stories to explore.

I am a fan of both dark and light routes, but in real life I am a light route dude, and some dark routes are definitely too dark for me so I avoid them. Outside of that, I generally play all the possibilities.

If I want to insert myself I play with a different name but my alter ego gets a even different one than that.

Sometimes I do depends on the game, but really I'm fine either way.
