Do you play as yourself or roleplay in your games?

  • I play very closely to my actual self

  • I play as a very different character than my actual self

  • I do a little of both depending on how I feel

  • I'm a crazy person that uses the default name

I try to look at it like I am seeing a world through the eye of the creator. I just want to enjoy the ride. Most of the time the it is just the decisions that are made that I try to do what I think I would like to do. Other than that I treat the games just like I do with a good book. Find the characters I connect to and enjoy the story.

Definitely self-insert, unless MC is a female character. My brain just automatically makes an association between the concept of the MC and me being in control of his decisions (unless it's kinetic).

Usually self insert. One reason I hate kinetic novels.

For adult games heck naw....I'm playing to fap mostly, or to read the good plot with the bigger budget games.

Now with actual RPGs with player customization then yes, but it depends on the game.

It depends on the game and the experience you're looking for. Some players enjoy playing as themselves, creating a character that reflects their own personality and choices, which can make the game feel more personal and immersive. Others prefer to role-play as someone else, taking on a completely different persona to experience the game from a fresh perspective. Role-playing allows players to explore different identities, choices, and stories they wouldn’t necessarily encounter in real life. Both approaches can be equally enjoyable, depending on the kind of experience you're aiming for in the game.

I'm usually too busy jerking off to truly question whether I'm role playing or not.

I play as myself to make it feel immersive and enjoyable

I play as myself as long as the story doesn't make me do something cruel or retarded.
I play as myself especially if the story makes me do something cruel or retarded.

I mostly self-insert, unless the MC is female, not much changes though, I still would go for the girls. :p

No, I prefer to be a different person, but I tend to enforce my morals on my actions on the game.

i use my name mostly but i dont really mind either way. im just here to see the scenes

It depends. Often self-insert, but if the game does a good job of describing the character you're supposed to play as, I tend to play out their archetype. Like, if a character is set up as a cunning, strategically-minded individual, I might make more unempathic choices if I feel they're clever and more fitting to this character.

I play with no less pleasure and because of female MCs, the main thing - that the plot was interesting.
