Depends on the voice actor and their engagement... It's not worth the effort unless it is good. I can always tell when the dev just outsources the lines.
Never. I don't avoid games with voice acting, because you can mute it. I read faster than the voice and also have my own voice acting in my head. Voice acting breaks my immersion
depends heavily on the quality - ive found a lot of the ones that do have it are quite poor/amateur overall. iirc the only one that i think really elevated the game was snow daze, most others have been pretty poor overall - i do think AI voice bots will help here over time, they're rapidly getting better with their inflection and pitch control given the datasets being fed to them, and if that can be leveraged then i think we'll start to see it a lot more - and when its good it really, really elevates the game to be sure
