Do you like AI and what do ya think about it being in new games?

Absolute deal-breaker. I consider game devs to be artists. Using AI shows laziness and lack of love from the game creator with their game.

You have to be realistic. Most AVN's are one guy's passion project, but this one guy can't be good at everything. If that guy's talent happens to be writing, and he happens to be really good at it, then I am willing to put up with lazy art.

Very few people are both gifted artists AND great writers.

Most of them are actually poor artists and poor writers...

I don't think you can really say it's not "realistic" for one guy to do the writing and art for a VN considering how may of those there were before the rise of AI. Hell, I've even made a few myself, so I know it isn't some impossible feat.

I really like the style of some image rendering engines.
But the use of AI is increasingly an easy solution and behind that the quality of the game and the rendering are clearly not up to par....
It's a shame, it's a good tool but far too much used out of laziness than for its real interest...

not really, most people just dont use it right,it just become slop

I would rather not see any ai art, or at least convert to regular art if a project takes off

No matter how one feels about AI graphics, it's better than using real porn in game projects. There are a couple or three projects I'm interested in, but they're all in the early stages of development. I haven't come across a single completed project.

I don't like it, honestly. Right now all the AI art looks boring. The backgrounds are a mess sometimes, and the characters look so lifeless.

Positive, one day well finally build an AI advanced enough to genetically modify cats into catgirls. Then the catgirls can be futas and will be disseminated to everyone

i don't have any problem with it inherently, but i have honestly never found a game that used AI that was actually artistically good in any aspect, so their mite be a selection bias, it seems like bad artists flock to AI

Sure, but a lot of AVN's are quite mediocre in either graphics, story or both.

That doesn't have to be a deal breaker though. If the story is good enough, then I (and many others) are willing to accept mediocre graphics. I mean, look at how many Koikatsu games there are. And some of them are doing reasonably well financially.

I believe it is a very interesting tool, especially being used now in adult games.

I think its a tool, in its base form the images are kind of soulless, and it's hard to get them to make a scene that flows, and keep the character's appearance consistent ( for now.) I think with editing it's a really valuable tool for game dev, enabling them to make more content faster.

Also, think about the text-only games, it's a nice addition

I hope i am wrong but i think AI is a disease in this games and it just make mediocre developers think they can make something good.

Most of them are so low effort. I only support the use of AI as a learning tool

I feel for people like me, who are complete failures in drawing it's actually really interesting to play with it. Yes, it still has a lot of problems and an artist who knows their craft will obviously have better images. But it got even me (who thought will never be able to draw shit) into trying out prompts and being happy with results gathered from it. So I feel it is actually quite interesting to start with and build up from there.

Honestly I think that Ai can be a barrier breaker for many people looking to create a game. sure it will have its growing pains but once this technology matures, we will be able to create anything our deviant heart's desire.

AI can have a place in doing some of the drudge work in development, it can pick up the boring repetitive things that nobody really wants to do (writing boilerplate code, writing unit tests), and can serve as a force multiplier for skilled humans (e.g. an artist designs a character and the AI can be instructed convert it to a 3d model, pose it, and change the outfit, for the artist to then finesse) saving a human hours.

All that being said, increasing the effectiveness of a creative type, means that fewer of them are required on a project, which can put people out of jobs, and the first creative-type jobs that AI is eating, is the entry level role that all the top creatives cut their teeth on. Without the junior developer of today, where are you getting the senior dev of ten years from now? If there's no role for junior creatives, we will lose the breeding ground for the senior artists. If there's no money in writing low level copy or dialog, far fewer people are going to get into it (unless they have a real passion and can see an end product).

What I think will kill AI, or at least limit it's utility, is either:
  • eventually, the pool of training material will end up so saturated with AI produced "art" that they'll enter a death spiral, all mis-quoting each other (badly), and ending up with declining quality that an average 12 year old can surpass
  • They'll all end up trained on all the media in the world, and regardless of the engine you use, they all produce the same generic junk in response to similar prompts. You'll wind up with the elevator pitches for Blade, Dracula, Interview with a Vampire, and Lost Boys all giving you Twilight because you mentioned "vampires" in the prompt.

Weather you like it or not its here to stay. It was a matter of time before it happened and the more money people put into it and make from it the more acceptance you'll see of it until it's completely normal. If the game is good then I dont really mind the ai, what I do mind is lame boring low effort games with crap gameplay/art/writing... and i've seen plenty of games that have no ai that fit that description.

I hate how AI undermines the value of human work and creativity, but I can't deny the potential of AI. I'm just sad that someday AI will replace humanity, not only in work but also in creative spaces. There will be a time that AI will become better at making movies, games, and even porn than human beings.
