I wouldn't say failure. There are plenty of games that offer branching paths that require either guesswork, exploration or multiple playthroughs. Without choices, all you have is a kinetic novel which is not a game, is a movie.It is a failure of game design to require a walkthrough but most AVNs are made by amateurs so er can't expect too much. That said I pretty much always prefer to have one to refer to, even for well designed games but I'm probably too much of a control freak![]()
agree completely, I tend not to play sandbox games that require a walk though as it defeats the purpose of a sandbox which is to explore the setting in your own wayIn normal games i.e. the fallout series and alike I like to go blind but me being a completionist I like having it for AVNs but it does bother me in sandbox games where I have to get the walk through every 5 seconds to make sure I'm not wasting my time searching around for the next thing
