I feel like I have bad luck in everything I do since I've never won anything, not even a consolation prize, but I also think that maybe everything that happens is planned. What do you think?

Good luck and bad luck are just positive and negative randomness.

There is no greater "plan", there is no destiny, nothing is predetermined. We all do have free will, we just suck at it.

People quickly fall into such beliefs, especially when they are not doing great, because it gives them comfort. It's also a huge part of religions and why people seek them.

I think it's a mix of both, honestly. Some things definitely feel like pure luck — random chances, being in the right place at the right time, stuff you couldn’t predict or control. But I also think a lot of what happens is shaped by our choices, habits, and how we react to situations. Not everything is "planned," but it’s not all chaos either.

Maybe luck gives you the opportunity, but what you do with it is what really matters.

Fucking luck, dude. It's all about fucking luck.
If you're born in poor family it's not that you could plan that or "almighty god" was giving you a fucking test.
Almost all poor people remain poor.

Make your own plans. Fuck the gods if they're sexy enough, or just tell them all to fuck off.

I believe in chaos. Everything depends on random chance, at some point or another. Zillions of them.

I believe its 98% skill 2% luck.

Sometimes things just dont go your way and sometimes you succeed when you should have failed.
But most of the time it is your actions having consequence's.

And often they arent the consequence's you thought it would be.
Looking at you politicians.

These comments remind me of a quote I heard a pro golfer make: "The more I practice, the harder I work, the LUCKIER I get!"

Without getting into the idea of determinism, some things are based on seemingly random factors out of our control. However, certain behaviors on average lead to better outcomes - putting effort into one's career is more likely to lead to better job opportunities than slacking off, practicing at poker will make one better at winning in poker despite the random factors. But none of this is guaranteed, people don't start in the same place or luck into the same opportunities. The only thing you can do is try to improve your odds with the things you can control.

I believe that there is something to it. I have won money, random game drops from streams and other prizes by barely trying. Some people are clearly fortunate for no explainable reason

Everything being planned doesn't really make sense to me. It's 8 billion people to micromanage

I don’t think luck exists. It assumes randomness can somehow be bent into a different outcome, but that doesn’t make sense. We only call things “lucky” when we humanize events. A gambler losing or winning feels like luck but would you ever say a star forming in a galaxy millions of light-years away was lucky?

I’m not a full believer in free will either. So much of who we are is predetermined genetics, brain chemistry, even gut bacteria all affect mood, thought, and behavior. You can work hard and make smart choices, but your wiring still sets some limits.

That said, feeling like “everything goes wrong” often comes down to where you put your focus. The more you look for failure, the more you’ll see it. Instead, train yourself to notice the small wins: a door held open, a joke that made people laugh, hard work that paid off. That’s progress. If you only count big jackpots like winning the lottery you’ll always feel unlucky.

I think you can prepare, plan , learn, create habits, observe patterns, create connections and so on to increase chances... Whatever else + things you skip is left to 'luck'.

I most certainly believe things are planned, just not in any kind of divine way. We all have the means to make choices for ourselves, but we are also butting up against people who make choices in opposition to yours. Most people don't have the means to fight against a small number of people who already have more than they can do with throughout their entire lives, and want yet even more still.

Which leads us to the crap that's been going on in the past 2 months. I think people may be thinking about going French on bastards like that once their identities are revealed.

I guess its just the decisions we made who lead our lives more than just luck, of course there is some luck on living but it's not the main effect
