Do ratings affect whether you download a game?

Low ratings absolutely do. I try so few new games that it is definitely one of the things I look at.

When looking in a backlog of older titles I might have missed I tend to put a bit of weight into the ratings.
Most the time im looking in recent updates and ignore the ratings, and just read a few comments to make sure its not filled with Spanglish or Machine translation and give it a try. Can generally tell within the first few minutes if the title is worth continuing.

I generally ignore ratings, unless they are very low with a lot of "reviews".

Ratings are mostly useful if they're extreme one way or the other. And regardless, reviews are more important in general.

Oh for sure. I'll check out a game if it seems cool no matter what but if it's got high ratings I prioritize it. Lower ratings doesn't stop me from playing but it does make me curious why it's like that.

If it goes lower than 3 stars I probably won't play it unless there is something that really catches my atention. If it's only 4 or 5 reviews I don't mind, but if there are more reviews then I start to trust them.

No. Although in most cases the rating does reflect the quality of the game

i have soo much free time i can just check every game by myself without checking anything

ratings no, only tags, images and some reviews

they did used to do so........ but one day i accidentally download a very low rated japanese h-game that i did not pay attention to the rating of...... and enjoyed it very much.

if you see on this forum the many discussion of game in this category, so many people have so many different taste and preference for such things...... even down to such small detail as character hair color can be a deal-breaker for some...... of course not to mention the fetish we all see in them....... because of such wide variation of opinions i think it is best to ignore a rating and try a game for your self if there is a tag that you enjoy........ maybe some times if there is not.

after adopting such a mind-set of rating ignorance i have had a much more frequent positive experience with such games, one even becoming my favorite..... you should try too! 😁

i even find my self disliking many five star rated game....... so i am a perfect example of why you should ignore such rating...... if i were to be reviewing such games they would not have five stars any more

I mean, ratings in general are really subjective, just because critics or the masses like or dislike something does not mean that i'm going to agree. But if the opnions are really skewed to one side theres probably a reason, so really low ratings most of the time means its a stinker.

It depends on genre. Some genre's especially on some sites, seem to get down-rated just because. Others which are more mainstream seem to hold value.

Ratings are useful at first glance, but comments/reviews are usually what i check to determine if a game is worth the time.

At the start I usually sort by views, for me it means popular = decent enough to give them a try since it's played a lot, after that ratings I don't really follow so I just check the last updated stuff and see if I like the tags + images and give them a try.

i tend to sort by ratings, but some of the best games I've played were low in score.

i read them if anything, if it still looks interesting i just download it and test later

not really because the game either never really have star ratings or I feel like i need to see for myself to see if i will like them.
i only look at star ratings and reviews for thing I am thinking on buying
