Do ratings affect whether you download a game?

Low ratings will make me more likely to read more pages of the comments to see why it's soo bad.

No not really some people will review bomb because they dont like one thing in the games thats optional so I go with preview pictures and some comments

If a game has a low score, I'll just look for reviews on why the game scored so badly.

When looking at games, do you pay attention to the ratings?

If so, do 'low' ratings make you less likely to download a game?

What are your thresholds for being wary of, or even not downloading a game, based on its rating?

Personally, when there's enough ratings, I generally am wary of anything below a 4/5, and unless in an exceptional situation probably wouldn't download a game under 3.5/5.

Yes, usually I skip downloading low rating games.

It depends, I look at why it's poorly rated. If it's because of the graphics or the story, I look at the review, if it's because of the tags, I don't care.

I never look at the ratings. I look at the preview-images. When I don't like the characters I won't load it. The story can be so bad, when the characters itself are great you get a little joy... and the other way round. When the story is really really good but everytime I see the character thinking "oh no, not you again", then I can not enjoy the story at all.

I'd say comments for the game affects me more than the rating itself. If the rating is really low, I'll generally check comments to figure out why it's getting low ratings. A negative for others might be a positive for me.
The description, the applied tags and the screenshots generally affect me most initially for whether I click away or stay on the game's page long enough to think about downloading it.

When I'm searching for something new, I look at the good rated games first, however, when I see an interesting setting with good renders and a bad score, I investigate a little to see whats up. If the issue is a "common" one like "bad translation" or "we don't like the tags", I give it a shot.

I look at: thumbnail picture on the "latest updates" page, then the tags, if I'm still interested after looking at the tags, I'll click the page and go immediately to the preview pics, if they look good, I'll either click the "changelog" to see how far into development the game is, or read the description of the game to see if the story interests me, then click on one of the DL links to see what size the game is, if I've decided I like the look of the game I'll bookmark the page on my browser to DL later.

At no point do I look at the rating, because the rating is up by the title of the game and I go immediately to the bottom of the post to look at the preview picks bypassing the rating completely. If I do happen to see the rating, I usually dismiss it because a 4-star rating with only 3 people rating the game doesn't really tell me anything.

Whenever I'm curious and don't wanna actively search for something. I'll more than likely sort by ratings and only focus on ones with like 3 stars and up. But if I'm asking for a game with specific tags and genre then I'll probably not care about the rating at that point. But more than likely if it's a game someone suggests it might already be 3 stars and up so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

When looking for games the ratings can be useful. But it also happens people give a bad rating because they don’t like the kinks which takes the overall rating down. Which makes me more lenient with the more kinky games.

I take super low rating into account. Good way to filter low effort stuff.

I look more at comments. that have been the deciding factor a few times.

Yes, ratings are important. It is very useful to see which games are popular, which games are loved, and which ones are despised or ignored.
It is a collective effort that will not only improve your own writing skills eventually but you will do a good for the gaming world by exploring the reasons for why one game deserves praise and others deserve mockery.
Reading reviews is useful so you do not waste time with the ocean of trash that piles the gaming industry. Even in this corner of the industry.

RATE YOUR DAMN GAMES AND WRITE ADEQUATE REVIEWS

To be honest - usually no. If the preview images catch my attention, I'm likely to try the game for myself. If a game I've previously dismissed gathers particularly high ratings over time, I might give it a chance, but that's rare.

The only thing i would pay attention to with a rating/ review would be mentions of bugs or other similar issues. If i want to play a game, i'm gunna play it. Other peoples opinion of games dont matter to me. But i do want to know if a game runs properly and in some cases , can even be finished.

if a game has some of the kinks I like and looks decent visually I'll most likely try it out regardless of the reviews

If I'm interested, I'll play it even if the ratings are low.
If the rating is high, even if I am not interested, I will be interested and play it.

If there's a lot of ratings and their all low I'm less likely to look at a game, but I'll also usually look for a reason they're low
