Do folks like to check out abandoned games?

Quite a few good games are enjoyable at first, but they begin to run out of steam (or are hurridly finished). Therefore, there are some good (but abandoned) games that are worthwhile checking out, because their enjoyment factor is present at the beginning.

There are quite a few nice abandoned games yet it's frustrating when you reach the end of it TT

I'll try them out and either feel like I wasted my time or love them and get bummed out that they were abandoned. So self defeating but I'll do it again next time I'm bored.

Yep. Gives me ideas for the development of my own games and short stories.

If it catches my eye then sure. but sometimes it does make me feel a bit morose and forlorn when i look back and see games i enjoyed mark with the dreaded abandoned tag.

There's only been one game that was abandoned that really had an impact on me but that wasn't because the game was abandoned but rather WHY it was abandoned that left me feeling angry and bitter.

alot of abandoned games are great. All of you should try them, then they might get an ending

Yep, if the premise sounds interesting i'll check them out. Unless it has like...1 update after its release, then it's not worth it imo

Check out "The Coceter Chronicles [v0.15 Beta1] [Nverjos]"
Abandoned but there quite a bit of playtime in it.
Prob the only abandoned game i'd recommend.

I check them out if it seems like there's at least an hour and a half of gameplay and the tags pique my interests

I check on abandoned games and also try them if the description interests me and it's not just some version 0.01 with none to little content.

Hell, no. You never get to see a conclusion. Worse, it could be one that got abandoned before there was anything good (sex scene that isn't something that ends in "job.")

  • If it's an early release, and doesn't look like a lot of content, then only if the premise is incredibly interesting.
  • If it's from a dev who's other works I know and like, then probably.
  • If the comments suggest that the dev is still active on other things and will be coming back to the project, but rules say it has to get the abandoned tag, then yes (need to see if it's worth keeping an eye on!)
  • If it had plenty of updates before it went abandoned, then yes, if I get that invested in the characters and plot, I can make up a headcanon ending, or see if there is a fan-made ending I can enjoy.

Hits especially hard when you want stuff like breast expansion or pregnancy that usually takes time to cook in game only to never be implemented

if it has really good art or great gameplay

I don't mind at all if a game is abandoned. When it comes to games other than visual novels, I hardly ever play beyond the first 10% or so anyway, even if I like them. I just don't like it when an unfinished game (abandoned or not) is extremely short.

Agreed. Some abandoned games have quality content just no conclusion.
