Who all likes to check out games that have been abandoned or do people avoid them entirely?

yeah. Some of them have real good content, even some v0.1. I did a list on another post with some examples

Two Sides [GreonoGames] (the first version and the first ramake. This game has suffered 3 or 4 remakes already, the last one was this month. crazy dev)
Home Trainer - Domestic Corruption [v0.2.1] [Deviant_smite] (one of the few on this list with lolis. The game is old, with outdated renders, but the girl is just so cute, while having a great story. really miss this one)

Yeah, I remember some I wish I had achieved cuz they ended up abandoned & now when I want to play them again, [but] the links are dead.

"Urban demons" - Oh the original was a guilty GUILTY pleasure back in the day. I used to check their blog every day to read the comments!

I still check out abandoned games from time to time, especially if they had a strong concept or unique style. Sometimes there’s enough content to enjoy even if it’s incomplete, and I’m just curious to see what could’ve been. Plus, every now and then you find hidden gems that feel surprisingly polished despite being left unfinished.


That said, I usually go in with lowered expectations. No updates, no bug fixes, and probably no ending — but for a quick experience or some inspiration, they can still be worth a look.

i prefer either abandoned games or completed games. WIP games are the worst because if you liked it and finished it you have to remember to check back in. and maybe replay the whole thing if its been a while

Yeah, it's a shame when games get abandoned. Some people still play them or even try to fix them up themselves. Keeps the memories alive

Don't rightly remember them right now; they tend to crop up when doing other stuff.

If they have enough content, I play them sometimes. But knowing that they'll never be completed makes me feel like I'm doing something futile

There are some abandoned gems, that I really enjoyed in the past.
Some have a lot of content too, but are stopped for whatever reason

Some abandoned games have more content than actual full releases so it depends Its worth to check things out and its easy with renpy and skip option.

I'm kind of scared to play that if I enjoy it so much, I'll just hate myself for starting, so I never do (same if the updates take too long)

Only ever check them out if I see people recommending it. Some I can think of is Teraurge and Elvensang.
