Best movie sequels of all time!

Return of the Jedi is mentionable because of the space battle at the End and Luke's fight with Vader on Death Star 2 with the chorus music. And Mark Hamill does his best with the material. But its so much weaker than Empire in nearly every measurable way. I still love Yub nub, and Seb Shaw as Anakin though. I never watch the version with Hayden and Victory Celebration.

I thought Mission Impossible dead Reckoning was Incredible, and i love Top Gun Maverick. MI bombing in the theater puzzled me it was better than John Wick 4 and No time to Die.
admittedly i only watched the first two MI movies, and i havnt seen Top Gun maverick. while i hear many good things about the MI franchise, and how amazing maverick is, i can't seem to watch any of the relatively recent tom cruise movies.

I also think Prometheus is the best of the new Alien films.
still a pretty low bar, but hopefully Alien Romulus can bring it up a notch.

Some people rather liked Ghostbusters Afterlife i only liked the 5 minutes with the old guys. I haven't seen the sequel. Frozen Empire? As for good sequels the third of the new Spider-Man's is the best No Way Home.

the current discourse would suggest that while Frozen empire is better than Afterlife, it's still not that great - but i still need to see it before i can pass final judgement on it.

and Spiderman No Way Home was pretty awesome

I'll add A Few Dollars more, and the Good the bad and the Ugly. Though personally i prefer a Fistful of Dollars, and Once Upon a Time in the West, which has no sequels.
they don't make westerns like they used to

Everything i love about Aliens was ruined by Alien 3, i suggest fans of Aliens skip it. I honestly wish it was struck from canon. I didn't hate Terminator 3 but i never thought it was in the same timeline as film 1 and 2. Salvation was interesting but a mess, i hated Genisys and Dark Fate.

I think Die Hard 2 is good, used to like part 3. Die Hard really didn't need anything but the first one. But like with everything they franchise it. I'm okay with their not being a Disney Die Hard 6.

I really like Underworld Evolution that is a sequel. So is Blade 2.

i was devastated by the way things were handled in Alien 3, particularly story elements and the fate of certain characters. while i like some of david finchers movies, this one kinda left me really depressed.
Alien Resurrection was....different.
as much as i liked seeing the return of Arnie, T3 was meh. At the very least, salvation was set in the future and i did like seeing a couple of things like the giant terminator with its little motorbike thingies. Genisys was just garbage. As for dark fate.....well....i turned it off after seeing what happened to john connor - then walked outside and contemplated what i was doing with my life.

Godfather 2 was a fantastic follow up to an amazing movie

Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back was a pretty damn great movie back in the day, and still holds up now
Empire Strikes Back and Godfather 2 are literally the trope establishing examples of a sequel 'exceeding' the original movie.
