Since the theaters have switched to digital projection I hate going to the movies. They are too dark and not clear.
I remember the fantastic 35mm cinamascope movies of the past SO clear and bright !!!

I cannot really agree with that. But I can however with modern type 3D movies, where only the middle is sharp, and everything around it is not very clear.
Mostly modern movies have far more detail than the older, lower resolution types.
But than I haven't been to the movies in the last 4 years at least, so I don't no either...

Well, I'm guessing that you are young so you never had the chance to experience (and never will have the opportunity) to see the true projected classics of the past (those experiences are sealed forever in the minds of old people like me) I'm talking "the ten commandments" "Cleopatra" "Ben Hur" and the like. You may know of those films, and may even have seen them, but you can not and never will see them as they were originally projected in the 1950s & 60s.

Yeh I'm young, I'm already past 50. I used to be cinema visiting freak before I got married. But that's a long time ago. Covid stopped me from totally visiting the cinema's, but I was already going less and less...

There's obviously a lack of inspiration in the movie production today.
I stopped going to the theater since a long time, except for some directors that still propose new things and well-directed movies.
I will never pay anymore for those stupid blockbusters.

Movie theaters are dying, not the movie industry. They are dying because the movie studios want them to. Nowadays everything travels on digital platforms because it is cheaper and more profitable. All this is unacceptable to me. I have always been fascinated by cinema. The first film I ever saw at the cinema was "Braveheart", with the school, i was 14 years old! over time I decided to go and see only films full of special effects, because the ticket was increasingly expensive, but certain films had to be seen properly. I always got the others for free or rented them to watch at home. Covid gave the final blow to the cinemas. Now think that in my area a ticket costs between 17-22€, this is crazy! It's normal for people to subscribe to various netflix etc... but they will never have me!
As for the quality, it's true, there has been a drastic drop substantially in the scripts. In my opinion, this is due to the negative pressure that the various power lobbies have exerted over time, like MeToo, LGBTQXYZ, BlackLiveMatter etc.. Disney it is the proof of it, with the consequent drastic drop in revenue it is facing. Families no longer take their children to see certain films and this contributes to the crisis of cinemas.

It's mentioned here above that some have kept subscriptions to streaming services for their family members.
Here's my family. My wife, my daughter and often my wife's sister comes to visit us (for a couple weeks). To work with torrents we have a separate system unit with very expensive (but also very reliable) server HDDs. The number - 3 HDDs, volume - 10 terabytes each. With the load they withstand, any SSD would die in a couple of months. A standard HDD would die within a year and a half. The main plus - we download everything that interests every member of our family, including our ten-year-old daughter. Cartoons, movie classics, Scandinavian noirs or just successful TV series - all this is downloaded very quickly and without problems. We have a 4K TV, good acoustics, and having all this for FREE, I don't see any point in paying even symbolic money for any streaming services. We watch something as a family, something only my daughter watches, sometimes in the company of mom, something I watch alone. The last time I was in a movie theater was in 2007, my wife in 2011. It is unlikely that anything will change. So for our family, cinema in movie theaters is dead.
I propose to honor the memory of the deceased with a minute of silence.

theatres are not ded, just have to pick and choose when to go. Like know for sure its gonna be a good movie rather than wait and watch when it comes to streaming
