They could just silently work on it in the background. A lot of folks are still supporting them. Just give no info at all, but keep making it while ignoring the hate then just bulk dump the rest of the game while flicking all the haters the finger.

But maybe that's just me and my "your hate fuels my creative drive" attitude.

At this rate, the youngest daughter is going to be graduated from college by the time we get an update. I wouldn't care so much, but this was one of my favorite games when it was first released.

It's a little surprising to see a dev struggle so hard on a game after doing so well on their first one. Unfortunately I think the format of this one (the dreaded Sandbox) along with negative response to some of the content probably has made working on this one a chore that the dev is avoiding. Hopefully Luxee has a more conventional (cough not sandbox) project that they are working on instead if this one is truly dead.

Honestly, I haven't really seen many people complaining about the sandbox. Usually people don't like sandbox games because you have stats that you need to grind and you have to repeat the same scenes a bunch of times. That is not the case here.
I feel like the main reason why he lost interest in the game, was because of all the Nea hate. He even said he had plans to have a route where you could just be friends with her and then ended up just killing her if you didn't want to pursue a romantic relationship. He probably felt there was no point in having all the extra work of having that route since people would still shit on her constantly.
I don't really see this game ever being finished at this pace. It has been over a year since the last update and looking at the tracker, the updade will probably be pretty small considering the time people had to wait.

It's kind of hard to compare the 2 because 1 is a full game and the other is still in the early stages of development. I actually think that if luxee released updates more often this would end up being a lot more popular than PL ever was, and I say thid as someone who loves PL.

Luxee started working on this game while he was still working on PL. Then he put this on hold until PL was finished. The first 2 or 3 updates after he started working on this again, actually came out kind of fast but they were getting some hate because they focused a lot on Nea and she is trans.
That is why a lot of people think luxee lost motivation. He clearly like her as character a lot but since people kept hating on her in every update he just lost all the motivation to work on the game.

It puzzles me that a lot of new generation games which were started in development in the last 3-4 years feature trans characters. Another example is Tales for the Unending Void. The first Perveteer's game was purely female harem fuckfest. In the new game he has a trans and a futa character. Are they that popular nowadays? I understand that some people fancy that kink, but to me it looks like a niche thing belonging to dedicated games.

You're saying it's "niche", like incest or loli isn't? I would say that trans is more accepted in society as a whole, than incest or loli is.

But, It's probably because, in the last few years, it's become more normalized and accepted in society. And, at the same time, the trans vs anti trance debate have never been as big and/or controversial as it is now.
Also, hater gonna hate. And if you put something "controversial" in your game, and are not prepare for the latch back that the hater will bring you. It will hit hard.

Personally, Nea quickly became my favorite in the game. It's thanks to Nea I discovered that I might have a small thing for cute transgirls. But besides that, she has the best story ark, and are the most fleshed out character by far. Also, I mean, just look at her, she is super cute.

I feel like trans/futa content has always been big in hentai and japanese AVNs. I guess western devs are just catching up now lol. There have been a lot of games recently with futa protagonists as well.

Yes, that's exactly what I mean. But speaking of acceptance by the society, you can say that only about US/EU and only about the last decade or so. I would guess that for the majority of the world or throughout of human history loli or incest is\was still more acceptable than trans/crossdresser.

The few games I follow with futa protagnists or that feature a lot futa content, seem to be doing well so there is cleary a decent sized audience for that content. It's probably a mix of the devs themselves liking that type of content and them also seeing potential there since it's a untapped market, at least in the west.

Honestly, I think fucking someone who is having the issues Nea is having is borderline cruel. I wanted to be her platonic rock. Maybe, later in the game, if there is some growth things could happen.

Needless to say, I was very disappointed when it turned into "Dick or death!". A huge bummer.
