I was wondering the same thing. "Enquiring minds wanna know." (Just for you @jsmith666 ) (Sorry mate, couldn't exactly remember...) Nvm, forgot the "@"What happened to your pfp?
Oookay, care to walk me through this one? We've already heard of mashed potatoes today...There's a place near me that makes a baked potato pizza and it's delicious. Potato seems to be an excellent pizza topping in general that doesn't get enough love.
THIS reminded me of THIS! (Now we know where @algeo goes when he's not here...)It feels like you are writing this from the perspective that it doesn't happen now, even if you aren't. This still happen in places like china, many Muslim countries or USA. In some it's done on a Governmental level, in others in a social or religious one, but the end result is mostly the same.

Wasn't it the Nazis who said "Control the message, control the media, control the masses"?I was using 'book burnings' as a shorthand for organized destruction/suppression of knowledge no matter it's format.
Consider for a moment that China has developed an internet that is pretty autonomous/isolated from the main one so they can restrict what their population sees and Russia has also been developing such a system. Yes the people can use VPN's to get around such restrictions but you would need to get access to one first and how would you successfully purchase/download one in a state that could already be watching everything you do/buy. Then in that vacuum you start to alter history and events to suit your narrative and justify your actions. You just repeat the same statement over and over and over again until the population accepts it and forgets that its not true.
I think we disagree fundamentally on our outlook on this. You appear to be more on the optimistic/idealistic side of the scale where I slide more into the cynical/pessimistic side. Don't misunderstand me. I would like for the fullness of time to prove me wrong, I just don't think it will.
Isn't North Korea's "history" so skewed and rewritten so that it actually makes a man a living God? How many book burnings went on there, do ya think?
How do you figure, mate? People are engaging and interacting- isn't that a good thing?nobody need coins anymore, it's frustrating to give you, like, 1-5k coins when you have 800k+, and don't make me start talking about the fact that half of this thread is good morning / good night. I have no idea where I failed, but I definitely failed with this one
Did you just summarize "back-reading"?You are right, repression is at least a part of the cause for some of these views. But, like I said before, times change.
If you're not going to adapt to try and overcome, you'll get left behind.
You like balls? Who would've guessed?I am a big fan of Hershey's Hugs myself. Little white chocolate balls covered in milk chocolate. Don't really like Kisses that much though.
I heard a reported one time say, "We've had 35% less deaths this year than we had in the previous 3 years."Saw a headline recently that was saying "Good News, this wasn't the hottest July in history for the first time in 5 years!"
Like it was an accomplishment.
Now let's not only remind the people of the loved ones they've lost THIS year- let's twist the dagger in the hearts of those other families while we're at it.
