Any other other series I would say read it first. But I can't stand how Tolkien writes,so my vote goes the the extended trilogy on this one.
More than one thing annoyed me in Hobbit, but since it were more than a decade ago, I don't remember. But one thing I do remember is that he kept spoiling his own story, like "the dwarf said goodbye to the bird saying they wouldn't met again, but he were wrong as the bird later saved him from a fall from the mountain" or whatever.
But I've heard many people say that Hobbit is written very differently from LotR, so that's why I'm not opposed to at least trying it.

If you don't want to know the way the stories actually unfold, then don't read the books - the movies, while well done, leave out some essential chapters and change the relationships and actions for "dramatic effect". Just did a reread after nearly 40 years and am now a little bit down on the movies. Some of the stuff wasn't as bad as The Hobbit movies (characters and story lines from whole cloth), but Tolkien is definitely worth the read if you want to experience the fantasy series that has been the inspiration for so many of the series that have followed. Some of it is a bit goofy, but the folks that tend to not like his writing are those that don't like deep descriptive writing, but only want things to go straight to a point. I like to paint an image of the surroundings of the books I read in my head - Tolkien's writing allows you to do that.

EDIT: Of course, be aware that Tolkien was writing the books more than 80 years ago (published about 70 years ago), when some words retained their original meanings. So, don't get offended if he talks about a gay atmosphere or throwing a couple of faggots on the fire
Do you think it's better to watch it and then maybe read it?
Like I said above, it weren't because of that that I didn't like it, and I think the writing style is different between works.
I like to know descriptions of the characters and places, but I've heard that in Les Misérables there are multiple pages descripting a single column of the cathedral. I think I wouldn't like that level of descriptiveness. Hahaha

Hi guys how everyone doing I'm been busy with work have any of you heard about the new bullshit with Apple is doing to patron if you have not heard then after November if you sub to patron using IOS you get tax an extra 30%

lol. well...??? haha :p long time ago. 🤣 kinda
Yes it is in perfect condition. He is a pc tech and got it when it was not work and trashed out. He told everyone he will fix it but they laughed at this idea. he took everything apart and rebuilt to the spec of those early/middle 1980s Apple pc. It have lot of floppy disk stuff and I think needs a flopy disk to boot up. No idea about the floppy disk size. its the very old large size. I think. sorry i don't even know about them really. it is literally floppy disk. I think newer ones was much smaller and in plastic case? I forgot what exactly they are in size. He also have one of first IMB pc also. its actually amazing to see these things. I told him I want his old game consoles ect.. You are right, they are very rare to even see those old Apple pc. its very cool. He even asked me for my old Sony Laptop. It is dead but ehh guess he love those things to try and fix or part out.
Yeah, I feel it is scam in a way but then again, new tech and new AI ect.. Guess it is how it is and it is interesting what they bring out next. I know part of my mind thinks its bit scam because how much it all cost but ok, just how it is. My pc will soon need to be upgrade/rebuild because it is the 4 to 7 year time limit lol.
Well, it might be worth a couple bucks- the fact that he's fixed/replaced parts might reduce the value. It's kind of like old, vintage cars. The car might be worth money, but if you've done any body or engine work and added aftermarket parts...it's technically not "original".
IF the disc is about the size of a 45 record (yes I said 45 record...) and is literally "floppy"- then it's 5 1/4" disk.
What old game consoles does he have? Neo-Geo, Sega Saturn, Turbo Grafix16?
I have a feeling if he could resurrect an Ooold Mac- he could probably save your Sony laptop.
Yeah, I should upgrade..., but it's a royal pain-in-the-ass to migrate/export data to a new laptop- if there's new or incompatible FAT...I'm throwin' stuff. Especially, with all those hidden Ren'Py directories that are created with each new game. o_O
well, Ima watch the movie for 100% now. I like Samuel L Jackson. he is one of Bollywood (I call this to Hollywood lol) best actors and he can actually act not like some. I never seen a bad movie with him in it.
You've never seen a bad movie with him? Let me make you a list... :ROFLMAO:
Yes it will solve many problems. Just dont use on animals and especially humans or it will solve one problem but cause much worst one. 😂
You're presuming they find "evidence"...of a crime or body... :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
yes this is true and don't feel it is a bad thing. Actually a good thing.
ehh depends my mood lol
well, i am here for porn. Im a depraved sick twisted vampire creature and just love to see naked females, although... the furry are something new to me, but to be honest, it is fun and funny. I stayed because.. why not? No one here told me to go away yet. Lol.
How did you come bye LC?
Sentimentality isn't a sign of weakness. I think it's the opposite.

You seem to have a pretty chill mood- at least here. ;)

I think that's why most of us are here- but I think we've all discovered a little bit more with these folks.
I've picked up 1 or 3 or 8 new "kinks" just visiting LC.

I've been here for years, but only as a Gamer. Then they required log-ins, so I joined. THEN they did the "member+" thing, so I just kinda commented/quoted as many games as I could... SOMEHOW I think I clicked a link for one of "MTelly's" threads for clothed cute lols (and they were adorable). I think I made 1 or 2 comments (maybe) and then Xlax kinda helped me get to P1 (after he told me about P1). Then VND invited me into "FruitStrips" Faerie thread. I started "back-reading" from page 1 of the 7K thread and some people started talking back to me and responding, building up my LC Coins...and then Conzi "splooshed" me over the top into P4. AND here I am?
For whatever reason- I'm still here. j/k (Y'all know why.) ;)
(Thank you to all the people that I mentioned AND to all y'all that I didn't mention.) Ya know I loves ya! :p

How'd you end up here/find this place?
You stole my GIF I see.. lol. mmmmm???? 🤪🥳
Did you expect anything else? I have "yoinked" other gifs from you too... You ARE responsible for my pfp. Remember? ;)
well, you old old man. Must be time for you to now upgrade to more modern tech 🤪 Windows 10 is much better. Just ask Bill Gates. his company loves to give free bloatware and spyware lol. I wonder... actually.. do those old pc like you was talking about able to even be used for internet these days? I imagine they cant sadly, but it would be cool to see
Really? "Old man"? *sigh* You're just lucky I like you. :ROFLMAO:
I'm running Win10 now, because I'm still hearing Horror stories about 11... I usually wait until I'm "forced" to upgrade... either against my will or...
mmmm maybe we can team up liike the old days and just have some fun...

I love the thought of a kitten with a sniper rifle. I say we sow the seeds of discord and let the world tremble in our wake. I'm in.
I would have said "Chaos", but I think Monokuma's trademarked it. :ROFLMAO:

I just saw that not 20 minutes ago from a developer I follow on Discord. Of course, I also just saw where a number of big developers just got their Patreon accounts under review. The Patreon team went on the other major site we know and found the fan made incest patch and used that to freeze their Patreon. Ironically, the developer doesn't even post on that other site but he's getting hit for a fan patch. Admittedly, I'm certain he designed his game to be patched in that way, but still!

That's stupid. Is there even much of a benefit for apple doing that since most people probably own a separate device they could just sub on

Not quite that descriptive, but it will take a couple of lines to describe a type of tree found only in the Elven Kingdom of Lothlorien, and similar types of things.

The books are a medium level read for a decently educated English speaker, so you can get through all three in a week or so if you read a couple hours a night. It helps to know a few of the differences between "British" English (Tolkien's English) and American English, if American English is what you know.

One amusing part of my reread: after having seen the movies so many times, I was able to put the voices of the actors to the various characters and use the actors when envisioning the characters in the book. If you would like to be able to do that, watch first, then read. The books have more story to them than the movies, and have additional characters playing important roles that aren't in the movies; likewise, some of the characters in the movies play a greater role than in the books.

While I think that everyone that is a fan of Tolkien from one direction or the other should both read the books and watch the LotR movies, I'm torn on what direction one should go. I normally suggest books first, but, in this case, movies first wouldn't be a bad way to go, especially since you already have them.

Fun fact: Sea wife was just another term for the other filth ridden pirate a disgusting pirate would fuck during a sea voyage.
When you hear @Bloodheart talk about his 'sea husband' now you know what it means
Nice art!!

But only the Drunken Goose really speaks to the dentist theme....
It's what he deserves when he goes to the dentist.
Preferably by a hairy bull cock, though.
Oops, I meant 'minotaur'
catch up on what is current and join us in engaging. the past pages are not going anywhere
Fuck, I gotta stop quoting so many people, I only had 10 pages to catch up before!
Once I download the extended trilogy and was ready to watch it, but them I got lazy, and never went back to it...
I do want to watch it someday, or since I never watched it, you think it would be nice to read it with that "first time" mind? Without knowing anything? I have a Kindle, so I could put it to a good use.
Watch the movies first unless you are an avid book reader.
The extended edition movies are long, but very good.
The books are very long and filled with lots of deep lore. It's hard to navigate if you have no idea what some stuff is.
I had the physical books with a little encyclopedia and map in each one, so you could follow along while reading
Bored. I was sitting in the bank while the wife was talking retirement savings. *yawm* important, but I figure I'll be able to afford to retire about 3 week after I drop dead.

If I read them, it will be in my native language. I've read books in english and had no problem, but Tolkien is both british and old, so I think it would be pretty difficult for me.
And the downloaded movies are long gone, it was on the same time as I read Hobbit. But some clicks and it's on my HD again. Hahaha

If your gonna be here for the long haul better to do it asap. After a while it's
tougher for us to let go......Trust me, this was proved recently *cough cough*
@Underlord
You got to let go bonky

Yeah gushing over magical girls. It's a .com but I use the app option. No, no need to sign up unless you want to create a watch list. It's all free tho
Why wouldn't we gush over Magical Girls?
I'm going to have to check this out, apparently. Add it to the "list". :ROFLMAO:
Not sure it's been over 25 years since i've been back there. The apartment
i had was in "Borden Place "
That's still pretty cool. I love things with morbid and macabre histories... :devilish:
Just need a unique name. Try Poopchute
I don't know why I found this so funny. Leave it to you to bring it back to asses... :ROFLMAO:
It's definitely helicopter.
I don't remember the movie that Arnold told everyone to run towards a penis.
Twins probably.
THAT was his maid. :ROFLMAO:
I felt that same way after Episode 1, then hyped for Episode 2, then after 3 again.
Force Awakens got me excited, and after Last Jedi and Rise of Skywalker I want to hit JJ Abrams in the head with a hammer.
I haven't seen any of the series on Disney+ yet, but I will look at them with the same eyes as the Marvel stuff: with curiosity and hope.
Don't forget that dog-shit Rogue One...
I tried. It was hard to fit in with that crowd, though.
I was in JROTC at the same time :S
So a conforming non-conforming conformist? :ROFLMAO:
There's a biology lesson or two to be learned in the game!
Well, some in the game, some in your pants.

Please... I've made so many "drain babies" the Water Company sends me Father's Day Cards. :ROFLMAO:
Hmm... I thought that where some of @Bloodheart's came from, as well?
I'll just upload those and further bog down the LC server, then. :D
I might be guessing, but I think he DL's them first and then shares them. A lot of them have the same generic "Download" file name when you right click on them- so it's not a direct link.

Oh, and your "gearbox" was kinda the same thing. No way to highlight, copy, or click. :(

and then Conzi "splooshed" me over the top into P4. AND here I am?
But @conzibald is supposed to be the owner of holes, CAUSING splooshes, not doing the splooshing...

Is that something he does often to people?

I'll opine here too. If you don't like Tolkien's style (I do, but everyone is different and that's a wonderful thing :) ) I would skip the extended trilogy in favor of the 1977 cartoon. The cartoon is somehow less confusing and in some way more mature than the Hobbit trilogy, I believe. And if you want something different, there's a bunch of audio dramatizations done by the BBC and others that I think you can still find for free on youtube.
