The two tragically abandoned games that immediately come to mind for me are False Hero and The Artist. False Hero was amazing (Melanie I love you!), but then the dev overhauled it and removed half the content, and then abandoned it. So sad to see that one go. The Artist was one of those that had an amazing Chapter 1 and then immediately choked and died without any fanfare.

I feel like if a game is waiting on an update it should have the On-Hold tag, and it should only be deemed abandoned when absolutely no word has been received from the dev, or the dev has confirmed their termination of a game. I think that could clean up the large amount of "abandoned" games that show up to then have that tag removed a month later because the dev took longer than expected.

In terms of completed games, I think My Sister My Roommate, Babysitter and Freeloading Family had disappointingly rushed endings to otherwise great games.

Corruption by Mr C was never going to be finished realistically given how he couldn't help introducing new characters all the time, but it was still sad when he stopped working on it.

Summertime Saga is technically not abandoned, but it's been so long into the supposed tech upgrades that it almost feels like it.
