I'm confused. Didn't you @Jack Of Blades announce Kernist as PR-Manager a while ago?
I can't find the thread, it was probably within of the rollbacks.
But with that statement I would've also assumed I'm staff like Kernist did.
At least I thought Kernist is a staff member after that message.

If someone receives warning points before being banned, do these points expire after a certain period of time during which the person does not commit any further violations?
Or do they accumulate until the ban comes into effect, which would mean that the person would have no chance of rehabilitation?

Furthermore, you banned a member and me without prior warning, even though this system already existed at the time.
You simply did not use it and said that it was your website and you could ban whomever you wanted, whenever you wanted.
You did not care that we had not violated any of the rules that were in effect at the time.

Who protects us from arbitrary and excessive penalties?
Is there an independent instance for this?
If so, how can we contact them, who can we turn to?

I may not be very active in regards to commenting but i can read and can tell that it's an easy pick, Kernist caused quite the trouble, irritation and frustration amongst the community
and the way he sometimes answered with an hunch of arrogance has started to be annoying ( for me at least ). So 100% SeveredRealms as he's much more valueable as one of your Team and community Member.
If i'm wrong about Kernist then i apologize beforehand but that's what i gathered the last few Weeks.

Peter - you’re right. Calling you a dick was out of line. I’m retracting that and keeping this strictly on the questions.

1) Do warning points expire?
Yes - they should. I’m setting a clear expiry window going forward (ex: 90 days with no further violations). If someone keeps stacking points, escalation happens; if they stop, points drop off and they get a clean slate over time.

2) Do points accumulate forever / no rehabilitation?
No. The whole point of warnings is rehabilitation + consistent escalation. That’s the model we’ll use by default.

3) Why were people banned without warnings in the past?
Because enforcement was inconsistent and sometimes handled bluntly (including by me). That wasn’t ideal. Going forward the default path is:
Warning -> escalation -> ban
Immediate bans still apply for severe cases (threats, doxxing, illegal content, spam/malware, ban evasion, etc.).

4) Who protects users from arbitrary or excessive penalties?
There’s no “independent instance” outside the site it’s privately owned and final authority is mine.
But there WILL be an appeal process that isn’t “one person deciding in a vacuum”:
- Appeals can be filed via [ticket system]
- Reviewed by me + at least one other staff member not involved in the original action
- If we’re wrong, we adjust/reverse and we’ll say so. If not, we’ll cite the rule and the reason.

5) Staff / non-staff confusion (Discord “helping”, “support team”, promises of safety)
Clear rule: if you do not have a staff rank on the forum, you are not staff and you cannot promise immunity from moderation.
Helping with feedback/testing doesn’t grant authority. Donations don’t grant authority either.

If labels or announcements I made created confusion, that’s on me and I’ll tighten role labeling so it’s obvious who is staff and who isn’t.

If you want, point me to the specific bans/warnings you’re referencing and I’ll address them under the same framework above without making it personal.

That was very decent of you and I appreciate it.
I would like to take this opportunity to ask you once again to lift Bone's ban under the conditions you listed, which have been denied to him until now.
He didn't get a second chance like I did, and I'm sure that if he hadn't been provoked, the story would have taken a different course than it did.

I'm not a friend of Kernist, but a ban for this?
It's only 2 weeks, so I guess Kernist will get over it, but it doesn't look right.
An official demotion would have been enough for me.

I'm also not very active, but the punishment is for impersonating staff and not for being harsh or unfriendly to others.
What I, other people and, I guess, even Kernist thought is that Kernist is staff.
Kernist may be sometimes difficult, yes, but that is not the reason for his ban.

I want to clarify something myself since I had a "Meltdown" according to Crowley and yes I am using your normal name. Before Kernist was given a "term" PR he was one more disrespectful comment from a perma ban. He had in multiple post disrespected MY staff members and had 3 warning already at the time because he was told multiple times to knock it off.
I check into our staff chat and all of a sudden see him in our fucking staff channel. I person on his last fucking leg even on the site was in our staff channel. So yes I went off on Crowley. I am not the only staff member that questioned it I'm just the one with balls enough to say something. Then I see him straight up telling members he is staff and has admin access the other day.. He isnt that fucking stupid to think he was but he was bold enough to lie to you all. IMPO along with at least 2 other staff. He does not deserve any special title and should have been banned before he even got that title but one staff member cried to give him another chance...... Sorry but I'm done with him and well my choices get overruled when it come to anything regarding Certain Members.....

So in all transparency THAT is why I had a Meltdown as he says.

he never had admin access period, the only reason he had it was he used an api key from apollo (temp granting certain admin perms)
