Threaten to take there Call of Duty and they riot. All joking aside it shows that people are listening and are getting sick of censorship.

In the uk you need a govt id to play cod now just a fyi

Here's some hope for the future of NSFW games that I learned growing up in the 80s and 90s. Censorship breeds innovation. Video cassette tapes became affordable and popular because of cities cracking down on adult theaters, peep shows and strip clubs. High speed internet and streaming video partially exists because of video rental places like Blockbuster taking over the video rental industry and banning porn. A good amount of tech innovations happened because of porn being banned or censored in one way or another. It's not something that's really taught but it's the truth. Even if the ban stays something will come up very soon to fix the problem. It always has and it always will.

so true but sad also so much extra resources to get to a point that should not have been needed if the people in power were not so dam old/gullible/stupid.

It appears that Itch is removing adult games:
First it was Steam, now Itch, next LewdCorner :p

Edit:
It has now been confirmed that they are removing adult (NSFW) content:
Damn shame. Itch was plan B for stuff I couldn't find good links for elsewhere.

LewdCorner → Corner😔

Soon it will be real life.
I fucking hope now. Time will tell, but here's hoping donations will keep haters at bay.

But OnlyFans and other sites are ok...
Hum... I wonder what those have in common...

Whelp - I see an opportunity for a new startup company to swoop in and provide a payment method without additional rules or checks.
As long as it's not literaly illegal -> you can use us for payments.

Whether that is financially viable for this 'genre' of games, i'm not too sure. But maybe others would start using them for regular stuff too - as the annoyance/anger is felt by a much wider audience. (Quite a few big youtubers already raising concerns about this on Steam -> ''who the fuck is paypal to decide wht you want to buy or play'' type of idea
i think that they shouldn't even be able to know what you pay for like i should be able to buy as much methamphetamine's i feel like

Sorry, that's nonsense.
You're illogically rationalizing the relationship between various different products and services (no, porn being banned from some video shops did not magically make the online platform attractive - it was attractive in and of itself through its broad international market and ease of distribution that only really took of when other relevant technologies such as faster internet speed and higher video resolutions became available) and post hoc narrativizing it into a myth of how "censorship magically" breeds innovation, that's completely unlinked from the current digital era and the circumstances that surround and make up the censorship.

If you cannot sell any games, and thus cannot justify producing them, because you need to make a living, and payment processors disable you from profiting, you're not going to somehow creatively come up with a magic new market. You're going to pick a job that keeps the rent covered.

You're coming up with a fairy tale story of how all the bad things will actually lead to good things happening. That's a fairy tale as old as time, spoken at one time or another in most currently still repressed and still dictatorially ruled states. If people cannot sell certain video games, then those games will no longer be made. People need money to live.

Terrible situation, but its nice to see the massive community backlash.
With the stop killing games movement as well, the gamer community proved that we are somewhat unified in the "Leave us alone with our hobby" mentality.
Brings some hope for us in the end.

And hey, people will go off of steam and itch now for the spicy games.
While that hurts steam and itch for something that really wasn't their fault, alternatives like lewdcorner will probably grow.
Granted, lewdcorner might be a little too spicy for some.

Not really the main mouth pieces keep going on about its porn PORN! so fucking sick and tired of that i saw a clip fron WAN show LTT 10's of thousands watching it and they spend 3 minutes doing the LOL goner's are salty.

Very very few youtube channels that are popular are against this movement majority are on the gooners be salty band wagon even if you shown them a id is need to get into psn/xbl/steam etc they go meh i do not like in uk idiot then you get a ban.

On reddit for every person against there is 15 or more that want this in place and they will mas down vote hate you if you dare show them that devices have parental controls and the mass job loss incoming especially the death of M rated games for E/T games that do not need a id to own.

Here is the clip

if itch.io remove the nsfw, it will be domino effect like the subscribestar and the patreon to ban the nsfw content and some of the devs rely on the subscription to pursue the game

subscribstar has banned devs already its not fully on but already started patreon i can see a purge also.

Only Steam will be left.

Nope remember the world thinks steam is the reason for the mass shootings/rapes/****philes/drugs and slavery this last huge censorship situation steam is in the center with its own game purge.

these assholes need to be stopped, crypto never should've become a meme

Some posters understand. Most don't. Itch and Steam are not the evil ones. If they lose the payment processors, they can close shop. Even Collective Shout is irrelevant. Religious lobby groups have existed since the beginning of time.

The real evil ones and cowards are VISA and MasterCard. They have nothing to lose in defending freedom of creative expression. They could give the finger to Collective Shout and all others upset at lewd pixels. What is the danger for them? The lobby group could start a campaign to convince the gullible American public that VISA and MasterCard "profit from rape and incest".

If that happens, what then? Does this hurt their bottom line? No. It has zero effect on their business. Why? Because there are no alternatives. Lobby groups can announce they will create a family values payment system. Yeah. Ok. Good luck with that.

The card companies are the cowards. No one else is as weak as the VISA and MasterCard leadership. Weak or ultraconservative, which is essentially the same.

You forget the countries that are passing/passed child safety laws that also make visa/mastercard not support said transactions.

Legal risk is almost irrelevant. 3d depictions of incest or rape are legal in most jurisdictions. The issue is perceived reputational risk. My post was a little simplistic, VISA and MasterCard don't operate in a vacuum. They need client banks. If Chase or other large banks were to state categorically that they don't support business dealings in certain taboo themed cases, the credit card companies would need to acquiesce. Did that happen? I don't know.

Jesus fucking christ, I'm gonna have an aneurysm.

People need to stop being so fucking stupid to view everything through the lens of their own demented subjective point of view.
It just keeps fucking happening. This stupid "well, this isn't a problem for me, because I buy games elsewhere" is one of the easiest ways to fuck you up your butt and you don't even notice.

How often do people need to repeat that it won't just affect NSFW games long term? Do we need a disclaimer every single page that they've been aiming at FAR MORE than just NSFW games? Is it not becoming clear with the ID laws now for youtube & other web pages, that there is a massive movement in the background that aims to dramatically change the digital landscape in favor of prude conservatism and corporate big data control for AI prediction models to make people more controllable?

Do you not get it that some of the very games you're getting elsewhere, be it freely from DLs or other pages, at times only exist because the developers planned to later on release on steam to a broader audience and get monetization from it? That even if you don't buy from steam, others do, and their money helps fund the existence of these games?

Your measly money does not by itself pay for these games. Developers release games broadly across a multitude of platforms to make the money that allows them to exist. Even if you don't buy a single fucking game from steam OF COURSE it will affect games you want to play, because it's a revenue stream to a pretty broad market disappearing.

This shortsighted "well, I don't use x so it's not my problem" thinking needs to die, because it keeps fucking everyone over.

Things are interconnected. You don't live in the UK, what problem is some silly ID law gonna be for you? Bang, suddenly websites begin to broadly implement ID checks.
"Uh, wow, I never saw that coming. Who would've thought that some law in one country far away would suddenly cause an avalanche of consequences through the world wide web?"
Everyone who spent a moment thinking. That's who saw it coming.

The big thing with those people is that to them grand theft auto/call of duty/a rpg with romance/cyberpunk witcher or even sims 4 to them not adult games at all.

But in the esrb rating alot of AAA games are skirted just below the A rating but these new laws a M game is the new A rating so they are/have been playing adult games.

Not to mention needed a govt id to access steam now in various countries.

"i do not play adult games" with a naked baldurs gate 3 character fucking another character LOL

It really is alot of talent/passion poof gone next will be indie non A games just saying screw it when trying to deal with the new laws
