Not really, losing weight is all about calorie deficit, so either using up 500 calories per day being active or eating 500 calories per day less will equate to a 2 pound weight loss per week or doing a combination of both to reach -500 calories per day.You're right, two pounds in a week is not much, even 10 pounds in 5 weeks doesn't make a big impression.
But 100 pounds in a year is already impressive. It means that it wasn't a spurt after which he gained even more weight.
