Todays theme being ninja, reminds me of the film Ninja Assassin (2009). I don't remember much about the movie, but I do remember being impressed with the scenes where he used a modified chain version of a kyoketsu-shoge.

Here's a training scene from probably near the beginning of the movie...

Anyways, I've always thought they were impressive to be able to use effectively.

Gnight, K
From context, I'd guess you've never tried ramen

It's been about 30y since my town has contained a Viétnamese Restaurant and I only went once while it was open and don't recall having phô even then. I've only had phô in 'Phô Cup' prepackaged form. I didn't care for it, as it was really only sweet tasting and nothing else for me. The noodles were slimmer, more 'cohesive' and a little less chewy than prepackaged ramen.

Honestly, making prepackaged ramen with fixins' takes about 5-7 mins.
True I have not tried ramen. For awhile I was trying to be gluten free, so that was a reason I avoided them. I should give them a try. Too bad you don't have a Pho place near you, I have one within walking distance that is one of the best around.
Good night KSP. Have a bowl of Ramen.

Good evening notricksanchez69!

Only thing I remember from that movie was how the ninjas would throw stars from the shadows like they were machine gun firing, thought it was the cool kinda campy XD

edit: also love the assassins

Actually it's boiled bean juice!...which sounds pretty bad too...hmm.
Please don't boil your coffee beans, it will make the taste more bitter 💚

Yeah for sure it was over-the-top, but I recall it being fairly entertaining (and quite graphic violence for the time)

As a GM I love mimics, One of my favorite tricks for players the first time they play with me is to trick them into thinking a treasure chest is a mimic then after they realize it's not and relax have the rug it was sitting on turn out ot be a rug of smothering XD
Had to tell my party about this one. Everyone cracked up- I laughed, the bard laughed, the fighter laughed, the wizard laughed, the table laughed. TPK.

I always had an idea for a one shot Halloween episode where the party would be tasked with investigating a haunted house that suddenly appeared. However in the end it would turn out that the house belonged to a wizard who had a strange affinity for collecting mimics so wasn't actually haunted everything in the house was a mimic. Basically they could leave any time they wanted but if they made it all the way to the bed room where they find the wizards corpse (died of old age some time ago) and learned the truth the mimcs wouls all spring to life and it would be an instant TPK.

See I'd be tempted to go one bigger... the whole house is a mimic. Just a very sleepy one. Stay very quiet and they might survive long enough to figure that out (via clues such as furnishings that can't be moved, floors/walls that bleed if poked, basement rooms that are just vats of stomach acids, etc)... make too loud a noise and really hilarious instant TPK.

Ya I was thinking about that too. In that case the house would have been the wizard's pet mimic and now that it's master was dead it was teleporting around luring adventurers in and any time they got to the bed room they were far enough in they couldn't excape once it revealed itself so instant game over.

...but in a twist, it's just trying to lure in a high-level cleric who can resurrect its beloved master!

(Though that kinda loses the Halloween one-shot angle. Unless the party just doesn't have a high enough cleric.

In DND mimics are creatures in DND that can take the shape of any object, limited by their size some are small others can be huge, in order to eat anything that gets too close. They're generally wild creatures hostile to other life but are intelligent enough they can occasionally form bonds with other creatures. In this case a wizard (I'm assuming I don't have to explain that one) had an unusual talent for befriending mimics and began collecting them as pets or familiars. Eventually the wizard died from old age but the mimics stayed in his home and began using his house's magic to teleport it around to hunt by luring adventurers into it and attacking when they got too deep to escape. TPK means total party kill.

I doubt that I'd enjoy playing in a game like that. I play games to see all the options and to have the power fantasy of winning. I guess I need to fix that, since losing is necessary to advance the story sometimes, but I'm currently me.

I really don't like the inescapable set-pieces, and the dirty trick about the carpet of smothering would feel, to me, like a betrayal.

That would be a good twist if I wanted to make it more than a one shot.

They get to the room, mimics come alive but instead of eating them they toss in a diamond worth 1000 gold (or what ever the cost was)

Option 1: cleric casts the spell and resurrects the wizard.

Option 2: Rogue pockets the diamond and ties ropes to the wizard and makes a performance check to turn him into a marionette while the bard makes a deception check to throw his voice so it sounds like the wizard is talking.

Well that's why it's more of a one shot. Or groups usually did high lethality one shots on Halloween or other holidays for fun. We went in knowing our characters would probably not make it back out. How it turned out would also change depending on how the players played. I mean casting fireball in the first room would likely cause every creature in the room to fly around in a panic causing the players to figure out what was going on, so who knows how it would turn out.

FTFY (sry if Rouge is a character's name... uh oh I have to make a rogue named Rouge and then claim that her name is pronounced the same as rogue.)

I'd think that mimics would be connoisseurs of deception... and with so many observers, that check would seem to be quite difficult. But I ain't played 5e yet...
I last played 3.5 a coule years back, and still miss some of the features of 2e...
