Actually, yeah kinda. Get too animated while signing and holding food and you can accidentally spill, crush, toss, or smear. That and for the most part it's just hard to make out what signs your making if you're trying to hold something

For the most part though, someone who's signing is just going to set whatever they're holding down, so I'd imagine it's not as common a thing as having to ask a kid not to chew with their mouth open.

Though I do remember one time when a deaf girl I went to elementary school with got in trouble for throwing her fork at someone during lunch. Claimed it was an accident because she was trying to sign when upset, but everyone was pretty sure she was just pissed at the kid.
